Push Notifications

Hi all seniors,

I have a newbie question regarding push traffic. I am currently wanting to run a mobile offer that will use push traffic (a push notification to the consumer's phone). I will be using a landing page and I understand I will have to upload that to my tracker.

My question is for my traffic source I see a creatives upload place where it says to upload jpg, png files. Is that the design of the push notification and if so how would I go about doing that? For example on an iphone the push notification background will always be the same no matter what app pushes the notification because it is an apple default.

How would I go about designing that push notification and If I have to design it how would I add words in there if its a jpg/png file? Do I just upload the image along with the words inside it?

I am assuming the image is the icon of the app which pushes the notification but again that is not up to my choosing and that will be traffic source to choose which app on the users phone to push the notification?

Sorry for the long and confusing explanation but I do not know any other way of how to explain it, I am stuck and I do not know how I would be able to edit what shows up on the users' phone notification (words), assuming I do not have to design the logo of the app.

Thanks for your precious time and help!

Hey there,

please post threads only once and not several times in different forum sections.

I will be using a landing page and I understand I will have to upload that to my tracker.
You don´t upload landing pages to the tracker, you upload them to the server or you can use a service like landerlab.io

For example on an iphone the push notification background will always be the same no matter what app pushes the notification because it is an apple default.
On iPhones you won´t see web pushes because iOS doesn´t support it.

How would I go about designing that push notification and If I have to design it how would I add words in there if its a jpg/png file? Do I just upload the image along with the words inside it?
Do you have accounts at trafficsources for push traffic already?

Because then you could just check the campaign setup and it would probably explain the whole process

You need an icon and on some trafficsources you can also use a big image.

For text you have a title and a description.

Thank you for your reply.

I have to upload my landing pages to server and then transfer them to Voluum for tracking right?

Yes I have an account with propellorads for push but I only see images that can be uploaded during the creating campaign section. Also, for the icon, wouldn't it be another app that pushes the notification to the user's phone and not my own designed icon?

Thank you for your help

Upload the LP to your server, then grab the url ... yourdomain.com/landingpage1 and use that url when setting up LPs in voluum. Do not forget to use the voluum click url to link all the CTAs on your LPs.

Here is a guide on how to setup LPs in voluum: https://doc.Voluum.com/en/lander_guide.html

Every push ad uses either the bigger image or the icon, depending on what device a surfer is using, you need to upload both yourself.

Thanks for your swift reply again.

But for the push ad, the icon, shouldnt that icon be from an app that the user has already installed on their phone? For example if I have XYZ news installed, the traffic source bids on traffic from XYZ news app and then uses XYZ app to push notifications to the user? Or am I not getting something here..

Because on smartphones, all the notifications should be coming from apps that I have ALREADY installed and gave permission to, not some random ad can push up a notification on my phone.

Thanks again for your kind help!

These push ads are displayed even when someone just browses a website, for example. So they just popup in the browser, so to speak. These ads also work on desktop, it's not just a mobile format.

There might be different ways of how the icons are used, maybe when it's an in-app format, it works in a different way, I'm really not sure.

But I'm pretty sure that from the most part, the icon that you supply at the ad network is what the users will see on their phones.

No, it´s no in-app push that you buy on Propeller Ads.

It´s web push, this is different.

There a user agrees on a website to receive push notifications and then the notifications are sent through this website and not from an app so the users also don´t haver to install an app to receive the notifications.

When you have an account at Propeller Ads just play around there and you will see how to create and start a push campaign.

That´s the best way to see right away how to do it

Hey. You don't have to upload image with the text, when you will create campaign you will see separate fields for images and texts. The system generates everything on its own, and in many networks there is a preview, so you can see how the push will look on different devices. And of course you don't need an app logo icon, it can be anything. Write to the ad network support and they will tell you everything in detail.

Hi! For your mobile content, it would be nice to use an in-page push format to engage iOS users as well.

Besides, the CTR is going to be much higher as iOS users are not familiar with this format.

Hey!
For push ads, you have to add at least a main image, and I recommend adding an Icon for mobile campaigns.
You don't have to use text in the image, as it's usually small, but again it depends on what you are promoting, using a logo of a brand you promoting for example, might be good.
The main image, the icon, title and description are all called creatives.

There are some great spy tools out there, I recommend you to try one to get the idea behind push creatives and what images should you use.
Good luck

You really mean it that way or did you confuse icon and big image by accident?

Because I never ran a campaign without icon but with big image but I run many campaigns with only icon and without big image
