p202 - firing secondary pixels with postback url?

Hi,

for one of the mobile offers I'm running with Mundo, they only take s2s pixels..

so, am using the p202 postback url with subid which is working fine.

However, I am running this offer with an ad network and I need to fire their pixel.

Since they don't have an S2S pixel, I was thinking of using the p202 3rd party pixel feature to fire their pixel..

but to do this, I need to use the p202 Universal Smart Pixel instead of the postback URL...and that USP does not seem to work for S2S..

is there a workaround by which I can use the postback URL in p202 (for S2S tracking) and also fire the 3rd party pixel?

I've been thinking about situations like this (firing multiple pixels from one postback) and I think the best way about it is a PHP script that

1) Fires as your pixel, with attached subid information
2) Takes the attached information and adds it in to various different postback/pixel links
3) Fires off all of those pixels

If anyone could share the PHP script that will do that i'd be most grateful. I figure for firing multiple pixel URLs with it I just need to figure out how to get the PHP script to load certain URLs, but I have no idea how to make it do that without spending hours searching the interwebs.

prob is....and dont quote me on this.....the pixel excutes a php script, thats what a pixel is its php that made to look like a gif...so what happens is the script is run when the server makes the call to the pixel....which pulls the click id from the cookie that got jammed in the browser upon someone clicking on the ad....

so tough part is you would need to set the cookie its looking for then load the page with the pixel....

Their prob is a way you could do this somehow...just not sure how accurate it would be....

Ahh right, forgot about the whole cookie thing with ad servers/networks. I suppose when there is more complex things going on than just passing back simple subids, getting your AM to place the pixel is probably going to be easier. If the pixel has to feed something back that exists on the clients computer, e.g. in a cookie, then I don't think you can do it with a server to server postback since that comes from the network or offers server and not the client. So your bet again is hitting up your AM....

But if you don't need any values like that, just a simple "this advert created a conversion" response, then you may be able to do a postback. In some image pixels the URL inside the image tags can be used as a postback URL, you just have to figure out what variables to put after it to get conversions popping up and have those carried through to your affiliate link. I have no idea what the deal is with whatever network your working with though...

Having trouble understanding the difference between "Postback URL" and "image pixel";

- ON Peerfly it has an option for pixel tracking which I assume is to enter the image pixel for tracking conversion but they also have the option to enter Postback URL. Which one should I use and what is the difference between?

- Also some offers at EWA (mobile offers) only accept Postback (URL) and not image pixel. However Social ads manager only has java scripts, pixels and image pixels. Any clue as to how to tackle this?

Thanks

A postback URL is some URL that the SERVER loads when a conversion happens. You can append subids and other information to it.
An image pixel is another URL contained within image tags, often included somewhere on a registration/thank you page, and it is the CLIENT that loads the image to trigger a conversion event.

Since image pixels are loaded by the client it is possible to easily track them since they can be cookied, but now your tracking depends on the client to load the pixel - and not every person's internet, browser etc are reliable, people may quit on the thankyou page before the image gets loaded, and so forth.

Postback URLs are far more reliable in that respect as it's a server-to-server communication. The drawback here is that you need to carry subids through the process to add them dynamically to the postback, otherwise you cannot track the exact ad/source that the conversion came from.

SAM by BrighterOption does support postback URLs, I use them almost exclusively. They don't directly support it but I asked their support team and it's very easy to do. Take the SAM generic pixel and all you need to do is add the sb_src variable to it to indicate the id of the advert that was used. So, add advert ids to your ad urls using the {id} token, pass that through as a subid to the network, then fire back the postback url with &sb_src=SUBID# at the end of it. Btw, if you select to use tracking but not the click redirector in SAM, you'll see it adds &sb_src to the end of your URLs regardless. You can fire these postback URLs yourself to check that conversions show up for the specific ad id you use.

Also, EWA uses Linktrust, and it severely f***s me off that the platform takes all subids and merges them into one value separated by commas. So if you have S1,S2,S3,S4 at the end of your aff link, the Linktrust platform will split them up in their tracking stats but when firing pixels the retarded thing will only let you use [=SID=] which adds all of the subids in... no way to select just S3 for instance. I have tried firing back using AffiliateReferenceID but it never worked. So, you have to pass through ONLY the {id} token as your subid, nothing else. Stupid Linktrust. You can apparently make an intermediary script to receive the full postback, then split the subids up and fire just the one you want bu hell if I know how to do that.

END RANT.

Thanks Zeno,

So if I want to set up post-back URL, Does SAM has to set that up before I am able to make campaign? Like lets say I build a campaign and I realize that my network only accepts post-back URLs and I have already made the campaign. Do I have to edit all my ads to enable tracking and then send Post-back URL + ID tockens or do I re-make all my ads all over again?

Best

Never mind I figured it up, thanks!

I set up an offer on prosper 202 for the EWA network and for some reason the pixel did not fire back and I can only see clicks but no Conversions. I think I have done something wrong in the process of setting this up.

I know there are 3 ways to set P202 up to see conversion. And I have learned that the best way is thru Postback Url. What I did was
Set everything up and I chose direct linking>get post back/pixel>simple pixel> I grabbed the first piexel (simple global tracking pixel)> and I pasted it on Ewa's back office. Tho I think I have done something wrong hence I could not see any conversions.

Also I am guessing we can't see CTR on prosper202?? I have just been using SAM and I recently started P202...

As much as I looked thru the tutorials could not find anything also the videos aren'ts working and there are no tutorials online or on youtube either. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

you need EWA to insert the subid on the postback....so when you setup the pixel in the ewa interface at the end of the 202 postback url you need to use [=SID=]...(I think thats the dynamic insertfor linktrust)

Ok so that means I have to choose advance pixel on set up 8 level> and then choose the Advanced Global Postback Url > then add EWA's Subid [=SID=] at the end of Advanced Global Post Back URL > and then submit this to my AM? Do I have to do anything else after that? like updating Subids? so confusing...

- What kind of post back URL this would be? I ask cause me AM asked me what type of pixel it was even though I told him Post Back Url.

This is how it looks; https://bestmarketing29.com/tracking...=&cid=1&subid=

- BTW Do I have to submit a Post back URL for every single offer every time?

Thanks Polarbacon

Can't you just set the postback to load a script on your server in an iframe and then have as many pixels on that script as your wish?
