Domains and IPs getting blocked by carriers?
In the @trafficcompany Telegram channel I saw this today
"Note; for everyone who is using own prelanders, please update your domains frequently and if possible the ip adress of your hosting as well. We noticed that carriers can block this, which will have negative impact on your performance"
Does anyone made similar experiences themselves?
To be honest, personally I never thought about it that besides Google Safe Browsing, AV companies and the usual stuff the carriers itself block my domains or IPs.
In the end it sounds pretty logical that carriers could/would do it when the affiliate is using spammy/scammy/whatever prelanders that the carriers don´t like but usually you receive a warning from the advertiser or network then for using improper prelanders.
Without a warning or notice it would probably rather look like getting scubbed or that it´s just a "normal" performance drop when the domain itself isn´t flagged anywhere.
And when the domain is burnt then it could directly affect other campaigns as well although the domain looks "clean".
I swap domains regularly anyway so that I am probably more or less on the safe side and wouldn´t notice it but I thought I share it because it can be interesting for other people as well.
@trafficcompany, if the info should stay in the Telegram channel please let me know and I delete the thread.

Interesting. Is IP address relevant to affiliates using CDN like Cloudflare & Cloudfront? Since that should be masking the real IP, do they rotate the IP though?
And anyway to figure out if an ISP blocked your ass? Wait is there a difference between carrier and ISP? lol

If carriers are using high-level firewalls then most probably they'd be able to block the content even without considering the IP address or domain name of the landing page.
Usually such they use 3rd party sources of information like from Google, ISPs, AVs, etc to create content pattern detection, then based on that categorize the web page/landing page based on the content it has while totally ignoring IPs and domains.
Let's hope we won't have to deal with such sophisticated stuff!

I'd say it's more or less the same thing, carriers act like ISPs to their users, but not all of them have their own infrastructure so they still connect to some higher level ISP and their backbone.

@twinaxe we are all in for helping each other.
Please do keep this thread online, as it can help our fellow STM'ers with their performance.

Thanks, will also continue with my click2call tests soon and then hopefully I have enough stuff for a new campaign guide

Hmm, this is some next level sh*t.
Could be even hard to track if they would block the tracker's domain/IPs completely.
It would just look like an innocent traffic loss.
@trafficcompany, any particular GEO/carrier where you noticed this already happening?

And it would be really bad when it would be the carrier itself and not the CPA network or advertiser.
Because then...
It would just look like an innocent traffic loss.
Or rather performance loss.
On the other hand I think it´s not that hard to do something against it, at least on domain level when you rotate LP domains regularly.
I don´t know about other trackers but in
Binom you can chose which domain should be used as referrer for redirects.
With IPs it´s a bit more annoying.

Hi Twinaxe, I know it happens(saw it in other people's camps), one of the best solution is using cloudflare, using cloudflare will also greatly reduce the need to frequently change hosting server for new IP. I don't know what kind of camp you're running and what kind of server setup you have (I guess you already know all things) but if you think you need more info you can PM me or anybody who needs more info can PM me for this particular problem.
BTW, I couldn't find
trafficcompany channel on telegram, is it paid/private?
Edit : Using cloudflare would reduce the need to change domain frequently, but you'll still need to change it.

I use Cloudflare anyway but I also switch my domains more or less regularly to avoid getting flagged.
Even setting up a new server for landing pages takes only few minutes so it wouldn´t be that bad as well, just annoying and one more obstacle to take care of
At the moment I don´t have problems with that stuff myself and I keep my fingers crossed that it stays like this.
But who knows what happens in future

The way you would notice it is that your LP ctr would pretty much drop to 0 for specific carriers. In my experience they never block the tracking domains, only the
Prelander domains. Thus you would see visits getting in, but no clicks going out

This makes a lot of sense, thanks for pointing it out
