Discounts on Facebook Ads

I came across this interesting article . It talks about how affiliates can save almost 30% on the rates they pay.

"- Ads that link to other Facebook pages such as a company's own Facebook page cost 29% less than ads that point to external pages, on average. This is because Facebook wants to keep its traffic internal as much as possible and it means that Facebook page optimization offers real monetization benefits.

- Even better, ads that are targeted at getting users to become a fan of a Facebook Page cost up to 45% less than ads that link to offsite pages.

The big picture takeaway from all this is that Facebook is maturing as a platform and, just as happened with Google AdWords some years ago, the platform owner will naturally find ways to optimize their ad rates and take out any excess profits for advertisers. As always, smart advertisers can still find opportunities, but the need to keep themselves informed and up to date becomes ever more essential."

Interesting read, the report also talks about how US prices have increased 10% from Q3->Q4 but international prices have only risen 1% in that time period. Definitely tons of opportunity left in non-US countries.

the cpc's can def be lower the only thing is the "like" on the ad may be causing it(which counts as a click but really doesn't work for them profits)...would be a good idea for a case study to see overall what the end metrics would be though.....

It would be interesting to know if this holds true for apps.facebook.com/yourapp as well as pages... cause if that's the case there are some crazy opportunities there... bout to test this tonight... will report back

I thought about this too, but I don't think an agency that does 336 billion impressions can be stupid enough to miss something like that

one thing I always see, is that anytime I promote a FB app, no matter what, the CTRs are always higher than when promoting a normal landing page...

perhaps since we are promoting FBs platform , therefore they are yielding better ad visibility?

Is there anyway to see where your ad shows placement wise (top placement, middle, bottom, etc..)

^not that I know of... best example is if you make 2 exact same ads and bid one on CPC and one on CPM, you will see different results, therefore you can see FB does place some ads in different placements..
