Is It normal for affiliate managers to take up to 8 hrs to reply to your messages??Or is it to do something with my affiliate manager being out of office (skype) ??Should i contact other affiliate managers at my network or wait for the reply no matter how long it takes?
Yes thats normal. Could be time difference, holiday, or just busy!?
Did you have regular/daily contact with this AM before?
8 hours isn't long - especially if you're a new affiliate (sorry if my assumption is wrong - I'm just going by your recent join date - welcome to STM by the way!
)
Like @stickupkid pointed out, stuff like time differences (people need to sleep!) and holidays etc. can cause delays in reply.
Also, most affiliate managers are very busy. Imagine yourself in their place, where you're responding to messages from tens or even hundreds of affiliates. The affiliate network needs to pay a salary to your AM, and to justify that pay, the affiliate manager will need to help enough affiliates to generate at least more profits than their own salary. Now think how much revenue is generated by the typical newbie, the percentage that needs to be paid to the offer owner, and the percentage that needs to be paid to you. That will give you an idea on how many affiliates your AM must need to be taking care of to even pull his/her weight in the company.
I don't know a single AM that works 9-5. Most AMs I know are working practically 24/7, except when they're asleep.
So what's the point in telling you all this?
With such limited time and so many affiliates all clamoring for attention, AMs will often attend to the needs of the bigger affiliates first.
We affiliates do the same thing. When you have a big campaign that's started to blow up, wouldn't YOU be putting more attention on scaling that instead of your smaller campaigns?
Of course you would!
So - how will this knowledge help you?
1)Be understanding and courteous - your AM is probably bombarded by messages all day and not getting enough rest. Hounding them with impatient messages will not get you anywhere.
2)Be patient but persistent - wait at least a day before following up again, but don't stop following up! However, if after a few days of following up, your AM is still ignoring you, then it may be time to request for a new AM, or switch to another network altogether.
3)Use this as a reason to motivate yourself to become a big affiliate so you can get VIP treatment from networks!
Another tip: Join multiple networks from the start. This way you're always getting some offer/lander approved to keep you busy.
Hope that helps! Have fun!
Amy
Without repeating what has been well said before, I would add that if you need an immediate reply from your AM, you are probaby not managing your time well. Unless you have an emergency that you can not deal yourself (which is very rare), you do NOT need an imediate reply from your AM.
You may need/want to plan your day / week in advance. For example, if you want ideas of offers, or to be approved for some offers, you request them one day or two in advance, and meanwhile you work on your landers / creatives / white lists... You can do a list of all what need to be done for a campaign (or a Gantt chart if you are a real geek), find out the tasks that need replies from others and do them first not to delay your launch.
It could be a time difference
Yes, as everyone said - it is normal.
The two main reasons why is:
1. Time differences (In most of the cases I encounter actually)
2. Very very busy days.
As @jeremie mentioned and I agree, you might consider managing your time differently.
Gather all of your questions and once a week send them all at once, so instead of waiting for an answer every day, wait for all the answers once a week.
true, 8 hours is a normal time, especially when your timezones differs harshly
if you feel uncomfortable with replies, you can always ask - "what happened? are you allright? let's set up a call or a chat that will fit both of us" etc. As it's a basics of communication, if you want to get smth, first give smth
in your case, you'll show adequacy and patience first and probably will create a good partnership with your AM in return
