Do You Attend Online Confs, Meetups, Lectures?

Hi guys!

It'd be really great to know your experience about online events that are held now instead of offline, like MAC, Affiliate Summit, AWE etc. Do you visit such events like YNOT Summit, IGaming, CPA.life, Affiliate con ...? Do you go there to learn industry news and updates or you find new business contacts there?

My experience is an absolute fail - I feel like the reports and lectures there are just a basic and well-known info And there are a lot of companies representatives, not smaller affilates, webmasters, product owners. Where do you find usefull contacts? Is online events a good place to enlarge your business?

Hey,

It depends what your objective is. There were several online summits end of May / beginning of June which were great to learn new stuff, but not that much to make connections. The IGLive that they held last week was a complete fail as far as i am concerned. You could not enter the sessions because they had limits to 10 guests. The interface was crap, so even to make connections it was not that useful.

I am planning to go to the next affiliate summits in Sao Paulo in December and Las Vegas in Feb, as well as the AW Europe 2021, to find new networks and offers.

Right, tech issues with connection and capacity of these events in2020 remains unsolved, unfortunately:9 And that really sucks, as the industry requires constant solid connection and friendly interface in each and every step .

Online events can't compare to the live ones when it comes to making connections... it's simply a different setup. But when it comes to learning something new... definitely worth it, when you select the right one.

I'm definitely looking forward to https://adworldconference.com/ ... same great team thats behind AWE and AWA, there's no way it's not gonna be good

Totally agree, live events are completely different, but it really depends on your goal.
If you're goal is creating new connections, I wouldn't focus on multi - participant online events. If your goal is to learn something new, I believe you can do it online, even if there's some connection problems.

I agree with @jeremie and @matuloo.

Online conferences are great to learn new stuff but it won´t and can´t ever replace real live conferences.

I really enjoy the concept of online conferences as it´s a very good way to compensate the restricitons we have because of corona as good as possible.

But meeting the people face to face, visiting the parties at conferences, drinking and getting wasted with your AMs, strolling from booth to booth, meeting new people...

All such stuff will never be able online and as much as I enjoy it to see that we make the best of the current situation I hope that real conferences will be possible as soon as possible again.

yes, I do want to know what others do while ofline meetups are forbidden for now. As I find online confs a bit useless

I think the main difference is, offline or online, if the speakers talking for themselves or mainly for the audiences listening. Too often it's just chest beating and not very useful indeed and I think online, the bar is a bit lower to fill your conference schedule with mediocre people. No offense, it might be useful for others for sure.

Offline is "more" serious and not just a fling (probably more expensive too), hence better filtering to fill the schedules -> better content more often.

I thought WMA was quite decent as far as networking goes, but definitely not as hyped as it was planned. It's difficult to make such a quick and sudden turn to online hosting of events when the community is so used to offline meetings for conferencing which has a totally different vibe. At the same time, the accent on learning something new was not so big on main offline conferences either, people mainly network and booze it up

WMA did cover some very technical aspects though that I haven't heard covered this well so far, so maybe wait for the next one.
