Been searching all the tutorials on the web about this, but still have two unanswered questions
1. Do I actually have to purchase the product I am looking to promote?
2. How do I send the conversion data back to Advertizer? I see no where in their dashboard to do this

1. I don't see why you should be required to do so. If it is for testing that it is working, they may have a way to test it without having to buy the product. Ask your affiliate manager.
2. You need to trigger a post back url from advertizer, for them to be informed that an event occured, as i understand you are running a CPA campaign. Once the affiliate network triggers the conversion using the Voluum post back link you gave, Voluum can trigger a custon link, which can the traffic source postback link.

You can set up a fake conversion to trigger the postback.
First set up Advertizer in your tracker with the option to send conversions back to the trafficsource.
Then just create an offer in the tracker and as offer URL you use your trackers postback URL with the click ID attached.
What happens when you send traffic to it is that a fake conversion happens and the postback will send the info back to the tracker.
The tracker then sends the "conversion" to the trafficsource and the conversion is registered on Advertizer.
That way you don't need to buy or fill out any offers yourself.
