Less optimized site loading faster?!

Hi,

The loading speed of my competitor's landing page (size 3.59MB) hosted on AWS is about 3 sec faster than my page (size 1.81MB) hosted on SiteGround.
And according to gtmetrix, my webpage is better optimized than their webpage.

Does this mean that aws server itself is faster than siteground?
What'd be a good solution to improve the loading speed?

This is a wordpress website for my own offer, not for affiliate marketing.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

SiteGround is shared hosting. Your speed also depends what other sites are running on the server that you share with others.

Try to put your site on a VPS such as digital ocean or the like.

@affcombo I agree with @larsometer I was into shared hosting too and senior moderators here advised me to switch to digital ocean or Amazon

Shared hosting is ok for personal blogs or presentations and that's about it... anything that needs to load fast has to go on a VPS at least.

EDIT: I was just looking at what siteground offers, there is cloud hosting available too, but it's kinda too expensive, the plans start at 64 EUR excluding VAT, digitalocean is way cheaper, for example.

In addition to getting better hosting, here are my top 2 tips on optimizing a wordpress site for speed:

1)Use a fast theme.

2)Use as few plugins as possible.

I've also used optimization plugins such as W3 Total Cache and it helps, but I've found that the two factors above have helped me cut down loading time more effectively than anything else.

Best of luck!
