Affiliate advertising remarketing to YOUR traffic
I’m curious if anyone has any experience/opinions on sites retargeting the traffic affiliates send to them.
Assuming the affiliate will be relying on retargeting strategies as well, is there a conflict?
Example: I’m driving traffic to my landing page which promotes an offer on the company’s website. Once my visitor lands of their page - they begin retargeting them.
Will my cookie remain on the site, meaning, if THEIR retargeting campaign is successful, I still get my commission?

As far as I am concerned, if I see that an offer's owner is retargeting the traffic I sent, I won't run the offer. Either you rely on affiliates to bring you leads, or you do it on your own.
That is exactly the same principle I used when doing real estate: I didn't have time to waste with owners who want to list their properties on real estate portals as For Sale By Owner.

Depends on the setup they are using, if they rely on last click tracking and the user happens to signup after clicking an ad from their retargeting campaign, they won't credit you for it. And of course, they need to actually target the same user as you've sent them... if they have a lot of affiliates, it's not likely that they would be able to retarget ALL of them.
Hard to say how big of a problem this is, most leadgen campaigns I've been running are converting straight away, the "late" leads only account for a fraction of the total leads generated.
In an ideal world, it shouldn't be the case, as jeremie mentioned, they should focus on one part or the other... but plenty of advertisers are doing this anyways.
For me, it's always about the profit, as long as I'm green, I don't really care what they are doing on the backend. If retargeting helps them to be profitable, they might have calculated this into the lead price and pay a bit more than without it, so it can also be a good thing

I think it all just depends upon the situation and how the question of retargeting/google search/amazon search/etc affects the payout.
GiddyUp for instance pays affiliates for the lead even if it comes in days later through their own paid ppc or retargeting campaigns or organic search on google or amazon.
Most other networks don't do that, however in some cases they might give an even higher payout on the front-end affiliate sales and only break-even, knowing that they will get 100% of the retargeting and search sales.
I think the important thing is just making sure there's clarity so that the affiliates know what's a good use of their resources/time/etc.

This is what I tried to explain too, but jack did a better job at it
