Hi everyone,
I've been running some TrafficJunky campaigns and tracking with
However I've just noticed that Vollum is tracking the CPM as my Cost Per View. (which is messing up my data)
I know that TJ uses CPM but is there a way to pass back the average CPC(CPV) back to
Voluum support said to add a Impression pixel to TJ, but i don't think this is possible.
So how is everyone else doing it?
Cheers
With sources that rely on CPM bidding, it's virtually impossible to accurately track costs... the CTR varies all the time, so whatever you set as you CPC in
On top of that, trackers that use the event system for billing might count the tracked impressions and bill for those too... is that the case @Voluum guys?
What I'm doing, and plenty of others too, is calculate my avg cpc from a representative sample of impressions and use that as my CPC in the tracker... I monitor the stats and in case it changes, I change the cpc too and adjust the daily spend as needed, to get at least somewhat accurate data. When I need to make a very accurate decision, I analyze the spend and revenue per placement or even banner. I have an excell sheet for this too... I pull the xml/csv feeds and analyze them in this sheet. My coder made it for me, but if youre good with excell, you should be able to do it yourself
It can get annoying, but for now, I'm not aware of a better solution, when it comes to standard trackers and CPM sources. Many affiliates are also passing conversion data back to the traffic sources that support such tracking option and view the data directly in the traffic source admin, where the numbers are more accurate. Since I like to keep conversion data private, I don't do that.
@affiliated4 if you don't want to waste time jumping back and fourth from TJ to Voluum to keep track of all your campaigns data, you can try connecting them both on xOptimizer.io
This way you will have all traffic source as well as tracker statistics reported in a single dashboard for accurate tracking tracking proposes, and on top of that you can create automatic optimization rules that will take care of blocking placements, ads, changing bids and budgets as soon as the conditions are met.
TrafficJunky is also one of the sources we will add to Automizer next. Then the cost passing issue won't be a problem.
