FB conversion pixel event for leadgen or other CPA

Hi,

Just wondering which pixel event a FB pros would recommend for leadgen or other CPA offers? e.x. lead, purchase, add to cart, etc...

If the payout is based on CPS, then should I select the purchase event and install a purchase pixel on my bridge/landing page so that FB can optimize for buyers?

And for CPL offers, I should select lead?

Many thanks!

If it is leads that you are trying to collect then going for Lead event should be ok. You don't necessarily need to pass a payout to FB when counting lead conversions. While when tracking the lead registration as a purchase event, then it is required to pass a purchase value.

what if the advertiser pays for sale, then I should select the purchase event even though I'm actually just capturing leads on my landing page to build a list? Since the actual purchase would happen on the advertiser's website, I just need to add a purchase pixel to my optin confirmation page and maybe add $1 per as a value? That way FB can optimize for purchase, right?...

Thanks!

If you only collect leads and record them as sales with a low value like 1$, Facebook might optimize for people it knows make small purchases on a regular basis, because that is what you are showing: lots of small 1$ purchases. This is not what you want.

If you want to track purchases, I would ask the offer's owner if he can fire your pixel when a sale occurs.
