Advice needed on Gardening FB page

hi

We're new here.

We have a vegetable FB page with 36K Likes. We also have a web site.

What products would you guys promote through this page's Ad account?

Many thanks

At the end it doesn't really matter what you gonna promote via the ad manager. It doesn't need to be vegetable connected ofcourse.

If you mean what offers to promote via your organic page; I would say cooking stuff - ebooks, recipes etc.

Promote what the fans of the page are interested into, as simple as that really. You already pre-filtered the audience by showing certain type of content, so it would be wise to stick to it with promotional attempts too.

Look at the posts that had the highest engagements, what was shared the most, what got some comments etc... then try to find a matching product.

On similar pages (gardening, outdoor food, planting ...) I see a few product types being promoted the most: ebooks with how-to advice, cool gadgets that are not available in every store, kickstarter (or similar) projects that are related to the niche (these are likely paid posts) etc...

Maybe show us the page, we could give you better advice

Are those real likes, since engagement per post seems to be quite low compared to the amount of fans.

I set it up in 2011 and have done nothing with it. Its only this year that I thought I could monitize it. And since I have been posting 2 or 3 times a day, and the engagement is going up, and now I am boosting posts.

Ok, so the organic engagement will be quite low, part of the users are no longer on FB for example, plus the organic reach went down a lot during the past few years.

Have you considered starting a blog along with the FB page? That seems to be the most popular approach these days ... people run blogs and post links to their articles on the FB page, so they basically use it as a traffic source, then monetize the site directly. If you keep all the activity on FB, your monetization options are limited and most people will just read the post and that's it.

I also see the more popular FB pages to mix it up a bit... they post videos to get the engagement, then static images with links to their blog articles and every so often they post a product with aff link on the FB page directly. Some are also collecting leads by offering an ebook ... you could do that too, I see several posts about raised beds on your FB page, maybe write an ebook about how to setup raised beds and how to properly plant them and use that as a lead magnet?

Oh nice, so you have one already, great! Looks like it's been setup just last month, am I right?

Any visits coming in already?

BTW: try to find some better looking template for it, there are ton's of free ones out there, the one you have is very basic. Give it a bit better look

That's a really good-looking blog. No reason you can't monetize it.

Are you optimizing for SEO?

Top ways I would think to monetize it:

1) Amazon's affiliate program - this is the go-to obviously for content blogs like this- looked you might already be doing this with that roto-tiller post- low payouts but easy to do and no shortage of offers.
2) Clickbank products - much higher payouts but you gotta find the right product and pitch it the right way so it doesn't come off as too spammy. There's a ton of great green/survival/energy/gardening/diy vsl's on there though and if you're getting mostly organic traffic on the Clickbank stuff its really not that different than Amazon in that the people coming to your site are looking for the product in question anyway and you just "catch" the commission on their way to it.
3) Adsense

If you've never looked through Flippa check it out. You'll see tons of sites just like yours and the various strategies people have used to monetize them.

Combining a strong facebook presence like that with (eventually) solid incoming organic traffic could be a super-valuable setup. You could even use paid traffic to build an email list for it, build brand recognition, etc.

You probably know everything I just posted above already, but just thinking out loud

Jack_l listed some very good options, and I could add some more... but why don't you tell us what you have tried so far, so we don't recommend methods you're already aware of.

Thank you for some great ideas. Have you ever used easyazon to add Amazon?

I originally set up the vegetable website as I used to grow organic vegetables for restaurants and market. Now just for ourselves. I let the website lapse, but managed to buy it back, so started to add the articles I have written. The same with the facebook group which was started in 2011, I am posting at least 2 to 3 times a day, and I am advertising to get more likes so hopefully get engagement up. The whole point of setting it all up is to start marketing a clickbank offer using facebook advertising - following Commission Hero for this. We joint this group because we don't just want to be reliant on facebook and wondered what other advertising models we good use. So that's where we are at the moment. Thank you

Ok, so FB ads is one way, but since you are writing articles and building content, organic traffic can help you a lot and I would suggest to focus on that heavily.

Grow the FB page, create an instagram account and also an account at Pinterest. It's gonna take some time to grow your followers on all of these networks, but with the right selection of photos, it can help you a lot in the future. If you manage to grow them to a decent size, you could get quite a lot of traffic from every single post on any of the platforms.

As for monetizing the website: adwords is a start, its he most simple way but unless you manage to rank for some expensive keywords, the earning will be low. Selling amazon products seems to work better for many bloggers, but not sure how hot it is now after they lowered their commissions. But it's still a great way... for example by posting reviews of gardening products and linking to them on amazon.

In case the clickbank offer is good and of high value, that could work great too... review it, post parts of it to entice the users. Refer to it in your articles... mention the advice that is given in it partially, then link them to it to get the full guide etc...

Organic gardening is more and more popular, if you dedicate the time to building a solid informative site, it should work pretty well.
