Spying on winning campaigns - saturation metrics

While spying on competitors' campaigns, what are the metrics that indicate it's too saturated already or if it's too competitive or too difficult for beginner-intermediate to jump in?

A guru recommended in his CPA course newbies starting with less than $5/lead payout offer preferably in the adult niche on a reputable network with more than 100 positive reviews. I came across a website with almost 50M visitors/month for a $70/deposit payout binary offer on a Russian network with less than 10 reviews, one negative review on them not giving payout, and wondering if it may be worth trying?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The payout is high, because the amount of traffic you need to get a conversion is higher. So you are going to need more cash to test high-payout offers. That is why it is better to start with low payout offers => You can test more offers for the same budget. Once you master the traffic, you can slowly increase the offers you work on.

Post the name of the network, chances are that some of the members would know them... we don't know every network, but when some becomes known for not paying, the info spreads quickly.
