Revcontent Whitelist Only? (9)

Revcontent Whitelist Only?

First of all. Hey guys I'm new to the STM Forum & also a bit of a newbie.

I found out a way to obtain widget-id's on specific websites that I wanted. So far I've added it to the "Widget Targeting" tab on Revcontent. Does that mean that my ads/boosts are only going to be for the specific widgets that I've added to the "Widget Targeting" tab? Or will it target other widgets as well?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Anyways, I hope you guys are doing well

Revcontent removed whitelist a while back. So I think you'll get traffic from other widgets too, unless they've changed it once again.

I guess you could whitelist by reducing the bid of all other placements and setting normal bids for the widgets you want to target.

Welcome to the forum @marcoeben. That's a very good question.

You would have had to select one of three 'Topics' when you created your campaign (or 'Boost' in Revcontent parlance) - either Native, Push, or Adblocker. Am presuming you selected Native.

If that is the case then all the widgets in Revcontent's network will be bid at whatever your bid is set for for that 'Topic' (also known as 'Target'), and any widgets you change the bid on manually (whether through changing it or through adding them on the top-right in the 'add widgets' box with a specific bid selected) will bid at that specific bid.

So for instance if your 'Native' topic Target bid is at .35$, but you added widget #01234 in the in the 'Add Widgets' box on the top right side of the Widget Targeting page, and selected a bid of .45$ when you did that, then that widget would be at .45$ and all the others at .35$. Same thing if you just changed the bid on #1234 on the right hand column while looking at the stats.

If you want to run the closest thing to a whitelist, just reduce the overall Target bid really low but keep the bids up on the individual widgets you want to target.

Ahhh.. I see. It would really help if Revcontent actually gives more "transparency" in their platform. Anyways thanks for the amazing advice

Hey Jack.

Thank you for the warm welcome! It makes complete sense now. I've gone through your thread which was very informative and useful, so I'd have to thank you for that.

I have a question that is off topic to your question @marcoeben. When you signed up with Revcontent, did you have to do a wire transfer the first time to get your account setup with funds or did you use a credit card. I signed up and wanted to add my credit card to my account. Revcontent wouldn't accept it. They told me that I would have to do a wire transfer. Right now, it would be a lot easier to do credit card, because I would have to make an appointment with my bank to do one.
I'm just curious what you did? Thanks for your time.

Hey @sushisue. Revcontent declined my credit card as well. At first I was kinda confused as to why they did that, but then I personally think that wire transfer is much better. Revcontent actually charges a 2.9% convenience fee for credit/debit card transfers which could definitely eat up your profit margins.

Although inconvenient, I still think its the better option. By the way, they still won't accept my credit card as well hahaha

Hope that answers it

Use the optimizor to apply a whitelist.
