*ATTENTION* If YOU STILL want to make $$ online in 2012, DROP everything & read this!

this will really affect YOU AND I - affiliates, internet marketers, network owners...

as long as you USE THE INTERNET

--> http://wordpress.org/news/2012/01/help-stop-sopa-pipa/

We talked about this here (http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...uld-effect-you), but the matter at hand is getting closer and closer to reality (we have less than 2 weeks left!!) and it must be stopped!!

Please take a moment to look at the official stance from WordPress.org (http://wordpress.org/news/2012/01/help-stop-sopa-pipa/) on this matter, and do what you can to help kill this insanity in its tracks.

No matter where in the world you are, if you’re reading this now then you use the internet, which means you could be affected in a big way by this really stupid and harmful regulation.

>> If this bills pass... it's pretty much GOOD BYE to affiliate marketing.

no more stack that money.

really BYE BYE to ANY WEBSITE which the US gov doesn't like.

*DO YOU PART - NOW!!!*

in short...

watch this video:

we need to stop the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA, PIPA)

because once it is in place,

the US government and corporations could block any site,
foreign or domestic, just for one infringing link.

sites like YouTube, Twitter, Facebook would have to censor
their users or get shut down since they become liable for
everything users post

>> and ordinary users could go to jail for five years for
posting any coprighted work - even just singing a pop song.

ive seen this being posted on facebook but i dont understand why people all jump on the band wagon and try to get this out.. who the fuck cares... its all just hype and bullshit. you really think youtube and facebook will let something like this pass?? just seems stupid to me and a waste of time / hype for no reason..

...the government will have the final say should the bill pass (if we let it pass)...

SOPA might be used to fight piracy.

But It also gives governments and corporations the power to take down (WIPE OUT completely from USA's internet) ANY website that might be infringing copyright.

Which means It gives not only the government but also private corporations the power to pretty much have a 'Delete' button on every website at their disposal. (Since every website on the web has at least something that may be infringing copyright.

Picture this: You have a blog talking trash about the government, you post a picture of Obama to illustrate one of your posts. That picture has copyrights. So the next day your blog might be gone from the internet.

on here, stackthatmoney forums, we have images from tv shows, celebrities, you name it... are they copyrighted? I don't know

if they are... STM = GONE.

Now think bigger. Think Google. Think Youtube.

Think your favorite traffic sources.

It gives untrustworthy people, the power to censorship the web.

>> it doesn't matter what facebook and youtube says when the law says they are infringing on copyright material and slowly forces them to clamp tighter on users and eventually to shut down.

it might be just hype.

but if we as a community depend on the Internet to make our living...

ANYTHING that could harm the Internet (or has even the SLIGHTEST chance of ruining it)... should not be welcomed.

--

so... is it just hype?
or is it something you should care about?

judge for yourself:

watch (weird dude... but wise words):

It looks like the DNS blacklisting provision has been taken out of the bill. More than likely this bill isn't going to amount to much once it comes time for a vote.

I love how wikipedia is offline for 24 hours, it's raising a ton of awareness from people who wouldn't necessarily know about it
