How to improve conversion rate from emails
Hi guys,
Looking for some email strategies to test to improve our conversions from email for physical product affiliate offers.
We promote product based affiliate (they usually have their own Affiliate program, we don't use amazon) offers see typical example of a email: screenshot
The products are relevant to our list but we are not seeing much conversions from email blasts.
The process goes: email -> clicks -> direct to the product owner site -> affiliate commissions
This is a pretty basic process but looking for some ways to improve this strategy.
However i'm looking for ways to improve conversions further e.g. like remarketing, retargeting, etc
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Cheers.

I think audience segmention and behavioural retargeting could help you. Say for instance, in the screenshot it seems you are trying to sell a Smart phone cover, but have you thought that maybe a VERY SMALL segment of your list may be interested in your product? And for the rest of the audience this email could just be spam... Then when you send email that is even relevant to them, they may not even bother open. But again, overdoing segmentation could harm than help and needs to be done the right way.
Behavioural retargeting is again about the way your customers interacted with your marketing messages. Like those who read your message and spent a lot of time in it could be more interested and the chances of converting them are better.
Remember: It's said in marketing that a customer needs to see message approximately seven times to pull out their credit card. And it has to be the right message to the right audience.

What is the average open and click rate of your emails? Have you tested sending them to a pre-sell page where they can be sold better before sending them to product page?
What about sending them an email with various products in a form of a promotion? Maybe the product isn't right for the targeted audience, this way you can quickly see if another product sticks.

What is the average open and click rate of your emails?
Open rate average 15%, click rate range is typically 0.84% up to 1.23%. Unsubscribe rate between 1% up to 1.71%
Have you tested sending them to a pre-sell page where they can be sold better before sending them to product page?
Not yet, don't think my list is big enough (as of now 5,000 contacts) if i look at email stats of one of my better emails
https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEu10yXQ only 39 clicks, which is small, i would have to then create a pre-sell page for every single product i promote which requires resource in terms of assistant, copy, etc.

When promotion do you mean something like this:
email promoting multiple items at once right?

Alot of the better ecom affiliate networks like GiddyUp and DFO provide you both offer pages and pre-sell advertorials you can use. The presell's definitely do better in the vast majority of cases.
And then regarding throwing multiple products at them, I would imagine you could do it two different ways. One: you could have a bunch of products in the email (like a "Top Products Of The Day" list", or Two: You could link to a gadget listicle with a bunch of affiliate ecom offers on it. Again if you don't want to build one yourself that's okay, as those same ecom networks will usually have a gadget listicle you can use as an offer too, where there's 10-15 different gadgets on it.
But yeah, I guess the other big variable is what kind of list it is? Are these people who bought from your
Shopify store? Or people who signed up for specific content on a content blog? Or yeah, what are they expecting? I imagine the more you can tie in the offers with the theme of the email list the higher conversions you'll get. I am definitely not an expert at email marketing though so just thinking out loud!

Your open rates and click rates are on the lower side... how was this list collected actually?
There are several things you can do in order the improve the performance of your email campaigns.
1. subject lines... test a few to see what kinda wording results in the best open rates
2. problems with the copy... are you using some tool to check the text before you mail it out? The usage of certain words can dramatically increase the chances of your emails ending in the spam boxes.
3. length of the copy... after certain amount of text/characters the copy will get clipped in gmail and users won't be able to see the full text, unless they click a link at the bottom of the email.
4. imagery... are your emals just text based or you're using some enticing images to drive the CTR up?
5. the % of bounces... higher bounce rates equal to lower delivery rates, consider deleting the emails that are not responsive at all.

Don't forget to pick a solid ESP and setup because this has huge impact on ending in the spambox for example, or not!

The email list was mostly generated through giveaways.
Just signed up for DFO thanks for that. dd
I'm going to test the multiple product angle and include lists.
As for ESP we use Sendinblue with dedicated ip address, senderscore is 98
Thanks for the email performance tips

when you feel like your send are underperforming two big things I would start doing one of which was already mentioned but it is so powerful:
Make sure to test 2-4 subject lines and from names on your emails. From names are a great way to improve open rates which are pretty low for you and than you work on the copy on the inside. An important distinction here is people often times try and sell in the email which you can do, but some of the best swipes I have seen just sell a peek into the next page. Curiosity is a powerful driver. I remember a top survival offer on CB for years and their longest standing email swipe for affiliates was just an image of a milk weed and it said Click here to find out how this common plant can be used as a painkiller twice as powerful as morphine...
Click here to find out how.
Simple and effective
2. This has worked super well for me and I learned it at a mastermind but you should survey your list with what offers they want. Create a survey that they ask a simple question would you want to win this? Yes or no
and list out some bullets with snappy one line descriptions of the product like an indestructible phone case that will boost the battery life of your phone. if you don't get an above 90% yes rate on the product, DON'T sell it. it helps reduce your unsubs because you sell nothing and you get more precise info on what to sell. I wouldn't do this more than once a month, but we did it about once a quarter and saw a lift in our email revenue and product sales from doing.
*offer owner tip offer a coupon code at the end of the survey and you will monetize your feedback.
