When to move website from shared hosting to private hosting?
Not sure this is the appropriate section to ask this question, but it was the closest match. I have my blog(s) on shared hosting. When you think is the right time in term of number of site visits to move it to private hosting?

As soon as possible.
You can get a VPS at Digital Ocean for few dollars already, there is really no need to stick with shared hosting.

So, do you advise never to be with sharing hosting ever even for small niche sites?

With shared hosting, you share the server resources with many other bloggers and webmasters. For these hosting companies to be able to offer such low prices, they need to oversell the resources and overload the servers... that means random drops in performance, downtime or possible crashes when some other user locks up the system due to some failed script.
Google uses many factors to rank sites and loading speeds and availability are certainly among them, so by using an unreliable host you're effectively shooting yourself in the foot.
In case you're serious about this and plan to build real websites with solid content, I'd go for some cheap VPS... digital ocean is a good choice, as recommended by twinaxe. You can host several domains on the same instance.
Using shared hosting makes sense in case you plan to fire up tons of blogs that are spammy and use blackhat SEO... because the risk of getting all the sites shot down at once based on the footprints that would help the algo to figure out it's owned by the same person, are lower when spread out across several servers and IPs.

Aha, that makes sense indeed!

Yes, nowadays VPS are so cheap that there is no real reason to host your sites on shared hosting.
When it's just a private website that you run just for fun it probably doesn't matter.
But when you want to make money with the website don't be cheap.
As an example, when I started my blog I had it on hostgator shared hosting and the loading times were horrible.
Then I switched to digital Ocean VPS for $5 or so per month and the WordPress blog loads really fast.

@twinaxe I was thinking... how about using the sharing hosting as a kind of "sandbox" to play around? Like try out something new and then move it to private hosting after getting a bit of traffic.
There's the hosting service called siteground that promises a lot of security features. And blue host kinda sounds like a good "brand" Leave alone the popular godaddy and the cheap namecheap and hostgator. Anyways what do you think of siteground and maybe blue host?
I think having a namecheap shared hosting @$30 a year for unlimited websites (or as cheap as $5 -$10 a year for unlimited during black friday sales) for "sandbox" is not a bad option. What do you think?
By all means, I will go by your and @matuloo advice on having private hosting for the compelling reasons you and him gave.

Am using SG for a hobby website for a couple of years now. Years back when I made that decision I was an absolute beginner. Now I am just too lazy to migrate it.
All I can tell you is that I would never decide for shared hosting again. Plain waste of money (nowadays).
You can use DO droplet (or something of the like) as sandbox. They are actually made for that.

Why?
Really man, you can get a cheap VPS at digital ocean for $5/month or so.
In the end do what you want but in my opinion there is no need to run sites on oversold shared hostings nowadays.

I think that it is a bad option.
Halfway decent hosting isn´t expensive today, when you have to think about $5/month or $2.50/month for hosting you should overthink your whole strategy.

The advice here is the best on planet earth. I'll go by you. Till now I valued siteground and blue host because of the great things I heard from 'others.' It has changed now!

Don´t forget, it makes a huge difference if you just want some cheap hosting for a blog where you can post about your hobby or so or if you want hosting for business.
If it´s only for hobby it doesn´t matter that much but when it´s for business I take it more serious.
When you run paid traffic you should take care that your sites load fast enough to don´t lose too many users.
When you want SEO traffic you also should take care that your sites load fast enough to don´t get punished by google.

You have to invest money to make money, that's the golden rule
Shared hosting is cheap, but that's the only advantage, the rest is just going to slow your business down.
