German online gambling regulation - How will it affect the industry?

There's a lot of chatter on the German regulation coming upon us...what do you think the changes to the affiliate market in the online gambling industry will be?

Do you have any link to some article that would explain the upcoming changes, or is this still "a debate going on"?

I remember when Germany introduced rules for the adult industry... users had to pass some form of age verification, but pretty much everyone seems to ignore it, at least when it comes to working with paid traffic. Hard to say what's gonna happen here.

On a more related note, we had a case in Slovakia some time ago... online gambling became regulated and the officials actually went after people who owned websites related to gambling and even after domain registrators who were listed as "owners" of gambling domains... not sure how it all ended, but they were facing quiet heavy fines. So if the govt really wants to, they can do a lot of damage to those involved, especially to the residents of the country in question.

There was a good webinar about this about 10 days ago.

At the beginning of last year betting and gambling was forcefully banned by the Albanian government. However, it took less than a month for veteran as well as amateur gamblers to find alternative virtual ways to pursue their passion. Quite suddenly every gambler ended having a secondary smartphone with VPN installed as well as friends who could help for creating and funding off-shore banking accounts.

Now, the situation might be a bit different for Germany, however I'm pretty sure that those who would want to continue their gambling habit, will for sure continue even against their government regulations. Same thing that is happening with crypto or binary offers.

As for the payouts, I believe they will go up if the regulations make it harder to run such offers.
