Hi guys I’ve been running push traffic on Propeller and I’m a bit confused over the traffic volume. I grouped a bunch of t1 English speaking geos into one campaign (US,CA,UK etc) and bid 2-3 cents above the recommended bid for high activity users and I was only able to spend 50$ in a day across multiple high inventory geos on push. Does propeller have low volume compared to other sources? Can someone share with me sources that have massive volumes without sacrificing too much traffic quality?
I can’t see how anyone can be doing volume/profit on push if a major source like propeller which says in their inventory stats that there is 10 million daily impressions in a geo will only send me 20-30$ spend in a single day with a highly competitive bid.
Any help is appreciated thank you!
Have you tried to contact their support rep and ask them for the assistance?
For push, bid recommendations are pretty much useless, at least the ones before you start a campaign. The bid is completely irrelevant, it's all a CTR game - the CTR defines how high the CPM for the network will be.
Still some networks won't accept a bid below X, simply to avoid people leeching cheap/almost free clicks.
Think of it like this: would you prefer 10 clicks per 1k impressions for $0.10 CPC, or 30 clicks for $0.04?
More reasons can be the daily / total budget which is taken into consideration to avoid heavy overspend, a high budget is usually preferred at literally every network.
Propeller is a big network, I've spent 4 figures daily there too. Must be something with your targeting indeed.
Okay fair enough I can provide some additional information:
WIth my current targetting options I am targetting the Big 5 English Tier 1 Geos, desktop traffic, with a bid of 7 cents and I am getting 1% ad CTR, yet I'm only able to spend 50-70 USD a day. Does this seem right? Are you seeing much higher ad CTRs in general with push traffic?
With that targeting it really is too low, I ran desktop campaigns on high volume on Propeller and could spend much more..
Try to run clone campaigns to get more volume.
I also had higher CTRs with desktop (2-3% was quite common, but some feeds were even lower than 1% on the other hand) and yes it's true that desktop traffic is way lower in volumes compared to mobile, but still, with that targeting you should have received way more clicks.
Cloning campaigns is a very common tactic to raise volume, propeller's algo seems to prefer to send traffic to a big variety of campaigns to keep a healthy variety level. So that's one thing you can try.
Test more ADs too, the higher the CTR the more the algo will prefer your ADs over the rest.
And you can also try to raise the bids, it's possible that 7 cents isn't enough in the most competitive feeds/placements for the most competitive EN geos.
The last thing you can test is to test the other activity levels, you can get a lot of traffic there too.
Thanks guys! I'll try duplicating campaigns and see if that helps. According to the estimators my bid is definitely competitive, and I'll see if the other activity levels are still profitable for my campaign. Appreciate the help!
As matuloo have mentioned the best bet would be to clone your campaign ..
Meybe you have just a couple of campaigns, try to create more or add more creatives or raise your bid. But also you can contact support and ask them what to do
