Revcontent Individual Widgets Spend - Voluum

Hey!

I've just restarted running Native on Revcontent. I have integrated with Voluum via API.

Since you can now bid differently per widget, how can I make sure this is tracked correctly?

How can I track the correct widget spend.

In Voluum I have the cost set to "auto" but it's not fetching/showing the correct widget spend when compared to Revcontent.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

Unfortunately, I don't have much experience with Voluum's ad spend reporting via API, maybe it's still an under development feature.

In case you are looking for a sharp ad spend reporting on campaign, widget, targeted category and ad level, you may want to give TheOptimizer Native a try.

To make sure that the cost, as well as other statistics, are correctly reported on all campaign levels, we at TheOptimizer pull and refresh statistics from both the traffic source and tracker side every 10minutes. This way, if you happen to receive traffic from any individual widget with wildly bad results, just wasting money without any conversion, you can block it within 10 minutes using automatic rules.

Also, another metric worth keeping a close eye on is the difference between the traffic source and tracker clicks/visits. Almost all major native ad networks remove suspicious clicks (known bots, web scrapers, etc) from their reporting without making you pay for them.
Although this is a good thing, what's worth considering is the effects these metrics can have on your calculated EPC. Especially if you are using it to calculate or automate your bids.

Here's a quick example of how the EPC is differently calculated based on traffic source clicks and tracker clicks:

The highlighted metrics in the above screenshot are calculated as follows:
Tracker Revenue / Traffic Source Clicks = EPC
Tracker Revenue / Tracker Clicks = TR EPC

When it comes to individual widget bidding and new bid calculation if you're using your earnings per click to calculate it, EPC is a more accurate metric compared to your tracker EPC.

Actually, you don't have to look for external tools to achieve what you want (or what theOptimizer offers here).

You can use Voluum's built-in Automizer that was launched earlier today (let's talk about perfect timing ).

With the release of the Automizer, the Voluum-RevContent integration gained many new features.

So if you've been already using it, without any action on your end, you will:

You can leave the cost model on "Auto", the integration will override these settings for matched campaigns and your costs in Voluum will accurately reflect the values in RevContent.

If you have any questions, let me know below.

So if you've been already using it, without any action on your end, you will:
  • have your cost information automatically synchronized on all levels, from a widget level to the whole campaign
  • check the status of your campaigns in Voluum
  • change bids for a single widget or for the whole campaign straight from Voluum
  • pause or restore your campaigns from within Voluum

Oh that's awesome that I already have it, I noticed the "new" stuff in Voluum and thank you for clearing that up for me.
Definitely perfect timing I'll check it out now, you should make a thread so people know about it!

Thanks platinum! But after learning the above I'll test out the new feature as it's all integrated.

After $1,000 ad spend, how much is automizer @Karolina?

I know, I know. I'm working on a post right now, I'll publish it later today.

For the first month (since the launch) it's free no matter the ad spend.

We want to make it cheaper than the optimizer naturally, but at the same time our infrastructure costs will go up, so it can't be free. We're thinking about tier system: price depends on the level of ad spend tracked. What do you think about this approach?

Yeah of course, I think as long as people have a choice though.

If people choose to add it to their plan, yeah make the cost dependant on the ad spend.

Whereas some users don't want or need it, they shouldn't have to pay more for something they won't use
