Locked up during the pandemic? What keeps you busy at home? :) (19)

Locked up during the pandemic? What keeps you busy at home? :)

Like many of you guys, I'm pretty much stuck at home with limited options, due to the fucking corona virus... we are asked to stay at home as much as possible and only leave in case we need to do some shopping or go to work.

Since I got 3 kids, I found myself in a specific situation, we gotta do home-schooling, manage their free time, try to keep them entertained and at the same time we (me+my wife) need to retain our sanity. Which, pardon me, can become fucking challenging at times. Not even mentioning that I gotta get some work done in the meantime... try to do it with three little devils running around

And that's not all, these little guys started to process food like the they're made of acid, I swear to god they eat more than I do... puberty really puts things into perspective

But why am I mentioning food? Cause the pandemic helped me to unleash one of my secret powers... I CAN COOK LIKE A BOSS

Seriously, I made a deal with my wife, I'm gonna take care of the meals for as long as we're stuck at home, as long as she's willing to clean up the mess I leave in the kitchen... and I do make horrible mess. Like flour on the floor, dried dough in the bowls (those who cook can relate ), tons of dirty pans and sheets and all that crap. I'm the king of fucking up the kitchen! But, since my wife doesn't exactly enjoy cooking, she's happy with the deal, at least for now

Aaaaand it all starts with shopping! I pushed the limits here too, I literally tested the capacity of a standard shopping cart... I MAXXED it out You can imagine the happy look in the person who was waiting in the line after me

But at least, I'm set for a couple days now

But anyways, back to the cooking part now.

I'm a PIZZA master now, crowned by myself, the wife approves and the kids have to, or else I'd kick them off the house

But seriously, isn't she sexy?

Getting hot now :

And ready to get lost in the stomachs of my kids army.

Ok I hear ya, I hear ya ... anyone can make a damn pizza. You're right, but it's doesn't stop there.

I can make a proper bread now! Full quarantine may come, I feel no fear, got my flour stocked... 10kg or so

Forbid the the beer my fellow STM'ers ... it's become part of my daily routine somehow. I just hope I won't have to go to rehab once this thing is over... and when I have, I'll go with a smile on my face

Still basic for ya? Oki dokie, let's step the game up a bit.

Ever heard of a "yeast dumpling" ? Not sure how popular it is in other parts of the world, but Slovaks love it.

Goes really well with roasted meat of any kind and sweet&sour cabbage as a side.

This is IT! Made it all myself, the dough too of-fucking-course

She came up very nice, fluffy and soft! I know I know, I'm promoting dating offers non-stop for years, so pardon me

Did I mention roasted meat and sweet&sour cabbage? Hell I did!

Here is the full meal... roasted duck legs and breasts, along with the cabbage stuff and my dumpling to finish the party up.

Don't wanna show off, but it was soooo delicious

And this is just the beginning, we're likely to stay at home for some more... so gotta try some new dishes too.

BTW: remember the last AM gathering, AWA in Bangkok? Just to bring back some memories, I prepared some asian style noodles too

So easy to make, so great, my kids love em... anyone wants a recipe?

Aaaaand how about you guys? What are you doing to keep yourself busy, sane, entertained or whatever else?

I have always said that when the end of the world comes, I want to move as close to matuloo as possible.

This guy is MacGyver + Bear Grylls + Crocodile Dundee in a single package. If anyone can survive the Corona pandemic and the zombie invasion, it is him.

Haha I'm far from it, you should meet my uncle, he's the real deal... that guy can do ANYTHING But he taught me some lessons

BTW: I was building something today, will share a picture tomorrow, nothing major but it turned out pretty nice and I managed to get some help from my kids too

Similar situation as matuloo, but all 3 kids are way younger (oldest is 6).

So I'm still kind of used to having kids crawl all over me 24/7.

Wife is not used to being able to escape the craziness though, and it's getting to her, so she's getting to me. Funny how that works

Only cool activity so far (aside from playing in our back yard a lot more) was creating a gigantic board game the size of a living room, using kids as the playing pieces.

Rest of the time is spent pretending to teach the kids, pretending to work, and trying to go through all the Marvel movies (with hand on the fast-forward/skip button) without traumatizing my kids.

Honestly, for me it didn't change much with Corona.

I work from home office anyway, I live in a very small village and don't visit cities or have big crowds around anyway, my pantry is mostly good filled anyway, I don't like oven-ready meal and cook and bake most stuff myself anyway

But now I really feel the luxury of my life in a small village instead of a big city.

We have a big garden and nature all around us where I still can go for a walk with my dogs.

I can imagine that it's much harder for city people who have to go out to public places to see some green and who are used to have many more social contacts each day.

When they are more or less locked in their tiny apartments now I can imagine that this is much more stressful for them.

Especially when so many people nowadays unlearned how to keep busy with themselves or just with their partners of family without the option to leave the house whenever they want.

Many people don't even know anymore how to cook properly or how relaxing it can be to sit down and read a good book.

Just few days ago I told Amy that despite all the craze right now I feel absolutely fantastic.
I enjoy spending time with my wife and our pets, we finally watch the whole game of thrones, spring is starting so I can do some gardening when weather is good.

Often my neighbors are also in their gardens so I always have a nice chat then.

So for me my life is 99% the same with Corona hype as it was before.

Edit: Your pizza base looks great
I am a big fan of real self made pizza myself.

Oh yes, we're the first one in the line to take the hit LOL

We have a big garden and nature all around us where I still can go for a walk with my dogs.

Oh yes, I live at the very edge of our town, so I don't even hear the noise of the cars and there are gardens and trees around too. I can't imagine what it would be like to stay in an apartment now with all the kids around... I'd probably be suicidal by now The only problem is that we moved into this new house last fall, so we didn't manage to get the garden finished yet... but at least I can sharpen my gardening skills ))

Which is exactly what I'm doing this weekend.

STEP 2. Becoming a master gardener to secure myself with some homegrown food just in time for the zombie apocalypse

Since I'm not the youngest anymore, I decided to spare my back some pain and tried to build a raised gardening bed. First one is done, got wood for two more so will likely build them sometimes next week.

What do you think, looks pretty good huh?

Aaaand, I even managed to get one of my twins to help with the paint, after a lot of bitching and whining he realized I really mean it and started to work, one hour later it was done. Not the prettiest paint ever, but will do the job

Next step is to find a sunny spot to plant some strawberries and raspberries

Wow masterchef @matuloo!

For me is pretty much the same. I'm still in the Scaleship, like @twinaxe, in a very small village far away from the city.

Except that we're going into grocery store once per month, everything else is pretty much the same.

Work, books, gym and food. For now I really can't complain.

Oh, and once per day I crying watching TikTok videos. Sick, really.

And when we're not working on campaigns or sweating in gym we just try to have fun with the tools we have available.

I shouldn't open this thread on this Sunday afternoon!

As a slovak I know all of these dishes and as someone living abroad for almost 8 years I miss them even more!

Next time you are in BKK I will have to drag you down, so you can cook some of these for me ))

Otherwise it's business as usual.

Launching ton of campaigns these days and working on multiple projects at the time.

I had to stop following all the corona updates as last week I almost though I had a heart attack, it was just stressing me out.

Now I just "update the numbers" twice a day.

Btw I'm not getting people who got suddenly bored because they are at home.

I can understand people with normal jobs, but for us in the online industry nothing changes at all:

BTW I also did big shopping last week and maxed out 2 shopping carts!

Beat that! ))

But for us here it's a different story as we don't have drinkable tap water, so had to buy ton of water too.

Instead of 10kg of flour, here in Thailand we bought 10kg of rice

I think last time we did a shopping like this was for our wedding, even Christmas shopping cannot beat this.

And when it comes to our dogs ... they are busy with peeling old coconuts that I took down from the tree.

They love it more than any other toy!

Hope you are all good and safe guys!

Take care everyone!

I knew you would bite when I posted the photo of Knedla (that's the dumpling)... It's so easy to make, I didn't expect it, I can teach you how to make it next time we meet in BKK once this crap is over

We have these stuff here because they are installing fiber-optic cable. Yes, you read that right. If there is heavy rain we are usually without internet some time. True story. So in a few weeks we are expecting to have fast internet in the Scaleship.

Until then we just upload what is really necessary. The struggle is real.

When I started in 1998, we shared an office with my friends (6 people total) and we had one ISDN internet line. The speed was 64kbps... charged per minute, you know nothing about the struggle my friend LOL ))

Fuck I'm old )

We're out of bread, so time to perfect my bread baking skills... this time with a different recipe that I modified a bit

I mixed some flour and potatoes... plus all the other classic ingredients like salt, water... etc.

Here's the result

BEFORE OVEN :

AND FRESHLY BAKEN :

I'm slowly getting there, 2 or 3 more tries and it will be perfect

I was thinking about investing some $$$ into stocks too, but I'm afraid we might see another drop, so waiting for now.

Locked up during the pandemic? What keeps you busy at home? 😊

For sure (in my guessing opinion) it will drop again, recent rise is just from funds being forced to rebalance their portfolios month end after a big drop.

I’m loading up and will continue to buy weekly, averaging it out. Not looking for anything short term, so a lower fall now isn’t much of a concern for me in 5 years time. (Oil def short term play for me though)
