Is Choosing Native Ads for a Beginner a Good Idea?

Hi,

after setting my first ad with popads and then started following the 40 day tutorial which had my first campaign rejected probably due to a violation with propellerAds because of direct linking, i decided to learn more about using pre-landers to get my campaigns approved.

While i received some very useful and helpful advice about what i should read up on to increase my knowledge, i came across Native Advertising and decided to look more into it.

Before i ask the question on Are Native Ads Okay for a Beginner to Start Off with? I thought i'd give my reasons for choosing it.

Here are a few reasons why i started to develop an interest with Native ads

1) It seems when it comes to page loading time speed, this form of advertising is more forgiving compared to others that require really fast loading speeds.

2) With the above reason, i guess i'll be able to create my pre-landers on wrodpress with siteground as my host and not be concerned about hiring a coder or having to learn to code.

3) As i was doing my research, i started getting interested with Native Ads as my main form of campaigns, especially when i learned that Anstrex has a feature that allows me to copy a competitors ad and edit it with a WYSIWIG tool. I guess this frees me from using wordpress? (Not sure about this and i need to learn more about Anstrex.)

4) I also like the nature of how Native Ads fits into the whole campaign process.

So my my question is, are Native Ads okay for a beginner to start off with? If it's a Yes, any links to articles, videos and tutorials will be much appreciated

Shane

Start as simple as possible when you need to learn the basics.

Don´t think in big profits from the beginning, first get your feet wet and learn how to set up campaigns, test and run them.

To do so its best to work with as less elements involved as possible, that´s why pops are best for it.

When you really want to run native you should be prepared to have a big bag of money to get started.

2) With the above reason, i guess i'll be able to create my pre-landers on wrodpress with siteground as my host and not be concerned about hiring a coder or having to learn to code.
Don´t think that way.

When you think about running a traffic type where you need thousands of dollars to learn it just to save few dollars on hosting then you definitely should work on your mindset

Maybe this is a nice feature but same as above.

When such stuff will impact your decision about what traffictype to run you better sit down a moment, relax and work on your mindset.

Then you are not ready yet for bigger things and should stick with easier stuff where it doesn´t cost a fortune when it fails.

Native is one of the hardest traffic sources to master. However, this traffic source is effective because your ad is seen as an integrative part of the website where it is displayed, resulting in the website visitors being more likely to perceive it as legitimate. However, finding the correct placements (through black and whitelisting) is a costly undertaking as it takes trial and error to find just the right spots for your campaigns. As a beginner affiliate, if your offer allows that kind of traffic, we agree with twinaxe that pop traffic is a more feasible way to learn the ropes as a beginner affiliate.
Next to that, we always recommend affiliates to look into coding, because at some point, you’ll need those skills. It’s true that when using Leadpages or Wordpress you don’t need coding skills, but it’s handy if, for example, you want to make small changes to an existing creative. There are free online courses, for example, w3schools, which are already extremely informative and will help you in mastering the basics of HTML (enough to edit a prelander for sure).

Yep running on pops you can already lose thousands of dollars to learn it. I don't even want to start thinking about Native!

Hi Advidi, Thanks for the advice and tips. As a beginner, i'm presented with services and tools that market themselves and the strategies they support as promising results, painting a flowery picture. It's really great to have a forum like this where not only honest opinions are given by experienced members, but very useful tips, advice and resources that accompany them. This really helps me to make better decisions. Thanks

Native is not easy and... it's not cheap either. If I myself were to dive into it, I'd make a list of some basic absolute must-haves for running native ads. A few things that come to my mind are:

- notebook - it may seem obvious, but think about the following stages: researching, learning, planning the budget, learning, planning the content, learning, planning your daily routine, learning, executing, learning
- ad intelligence tool
- tools for preparing the content
- traffic source - make some research here, you can consider running directly or thru DSPs
- tracker - native camps need to be tracked properly and require some optimization before you can make good money out of it (Karolina with @Voluum can tell you more about it)
- support and account manager - the help of an AM is super important, not only when you're starting but also when you're already a native dinosaur!
