Follow along to $200 per day by 31 Jan 2012

Hi guys,

i am setting a goal of hitting $200 per day by the end of this month ( 31 Jan 2012 )

Things i have already procured:
hosting ( hostgator )
aweber
wysiwyg

Strategy:

Set up 10 campaigns and tweak/test/optimize the campaigns for a week. a budget of $2 per day per angle for each campaign will be used as the testing budget.

Note: I am not too sure if this amount is enough, so someone could advise me on this. I will be attempting 3 angles for each campaign. Also, i am doing this to speed things up but am not sure if it is advisable, so someone might be able to advise me accordingly.

traffic sources:

focusing on 2 traffic sources: facebook and mobile.

offers:

1)chat/avatar offer. will be testing by countries in this offer and targeting people that likes to chat. traffic source: facebook

2) dating offers x 4

angle 1: mature audience
angle 2 : christian
angle 3: athletic audience
angle 4: target by race
angle 5: target by countries
angle 6: divorced individuals

traffic source: facebook

3) survey offer:

angle 1: target individuals that are stuck at home through a illness but still needs an income
angle 2: target younger audiences
angle 3: target older demographics

traffic source: facebook

4) music downloads:

will be targeting various artistes or songs here for this.

5) mobile offers.

The rest of the offers will be mobile offers that are freebies that either is an email submit or a zip submit.

I will be direct linking all campaigns first and will work on landers on the 2nd day. Will really appreciate any input or suggestions here to hit my goal. Thanks!

Day 1:

Have already submitted 16 ads to facebook ( 13 were disapproved and 3 were approved ). This was mainly to test how to create and bid ads on facebook.

Also submitted 6 ads for mobile campaigns but 3 were rejected. 3 are still pending approval.

Will activate the campaigns that were approved and see how it goes.

Nest step: get the rest of the ads approved.

Banners for mobile offers were created manually. do let me know if i need to do more to hit my goal!

day 2:

I decided that i was creating too many campaigns and came to a decision to focus on 1 campaign for Facebook but create multiple angles for that. i will also be focusing on 4 campaigns for mobile.

Banners were created for the mobile offers, strategy was also setup for my Facebook offer.

day 3:

I uploaded the banners and campaigns to a new mobile network. will be direct linking for now I also signed up to about 5 other mobile networks here. i will be learning how to create landing pages today both on mobile and web.

will be using these landing pages to assist me in my angles that i thought of in day 2.

I hope someone can give me some input as to whether i am too slow or doing anything wrong. Thanks!

Day 4:

getting my account manager to approve my ads. Will be talking to my affiliate manager as well to see how i can improve things. Will be creating at least 1 mobile lander and 1 web lander for my angles.

Do you have prior experience with these traffic sources?

2$ doesnt seem like alot of testing to me.

why hostgator ?

01-12-2012 11:48 AM #9 sgsavvy (Member)

no particular reason but i thought it was sufficient. Do you reckon i should change?

Hi kapies,

I was given that advice by someone but after reading further i realize that i needed to up it. but thanks for the feedback! i guess he mentioned that budget for mobile traffic since traffic is much cheaper. for fb it seems unrealistic there.

$2 dollar budget is not enough to test... its not about the testing budgets... you need about 30 clicks from a "src/1 angle" to judge how its going to do...

If the cpc's are around .25-35, I usually set $20 budget (& FB only spends about $10) and .40 CPC to get traffic to the ad and see if I can hit a ctr of .20+ (on FB) and if it goes well I scale it and lower the CPC, or pause it and test many more variations of sources and angles.
Goodluck

@sgsavvy : are you using hostgator shared hosting ? a decent vps should be used for hosting as you're paying for traffic, not all hosting created equally. go for beyondvps. shared hosting is a no no. if you benchmark 2 different hosts, I believe you will see the different.

Hi hd2010, i am currently direct linking with mobile and fb. i will be creating landers for mobile soon though, really simple ones to ensure it loads fast. Thanks for the tip!

i took the weekend off to spend time with my family and monday off as i had a very hectic day at work. Will be creating 1 new mobile campaign today with a test budget of $45.

Oh yes, i would need someone's advice on the stats below:

banner 1

impressions: 11,127
clicks : 59
Ctr :0.53

Banner 2

impressions: 11,070
clicks :83
Ctr :0.75

Banner 3:

impressions:11,147
clicks :65
ctr :0.58

Should i just keep the best performing banner? This is on a mobile network and i see that most of my traffic comes from ipad. This is a US only offer and i am bidding at $0.05. Spent $10 and i have made $1.10. is this good considering i have not even done any targeting/ whitelisting pubs at the moment.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

hi i have been direct linking with mobile and using the subids and excel to do my tracking and scrubbing. I am determined to make mobile marketing work for me.

I think it is now only a matter of churning out campaigns consistently on a daily basis as i have learnt how to track, do banners and learn how to read the data. Thanks to the Angry Russian for this.

Will post back my results after a 7 day period.
