Hi all, i have some questions on setting up a company, really lost now.
Is the best place to start a company today for online business/affiliates still in hong kong (HK)?
If so, may i know the reasons? And what would be the second and third best choices.
What is the bare minimum cost and to start a company in HK? I have seen packages that include accountants and provide registration for you. But if say i would like to do the registration on my own, and do not get an accountant, will it be possible? As i am not working in HK. In other words, if i like to remove any upsells to the setting up of company in HK, what can i remove? And what do i have left to pay and do?
Tax issues:
If i have setup the HK company, so i read that income from overseas companies will not be taxed if my business operations is not in HK. And at the same time, if i receive overseas income, but i am doing business in HK, i will be taxed.
Not sure how would tax be in the following scenarios:
If say i moved to HK for holiday or move there for sometime, and i perform some of my work there, will that be considered that im working in HK? Will the tax will be charged, if i received overseas income during this period? (Online business income)
What is considered as receiving an income? Say for example, If i use a third party service like epayments/payoneer under my company name. Money is being paid to me over there. Would that be considered as being received? Since it has not been transferred to a HK bank account.
Also, what if the third party service does not provide a business account, and so i have to receive the income under my own personal name. Can i declare that as a company income?
Another question, is that if i operate with an overseas partner, and the invoice that they give me is in my company name, but it is deposited into a bank account under my own personal name, would that be classified as my personal income or company income?
Thank you for reading, please let me know what are your thoughts about this ? Will be thankful about any help
I'm no tax expert, but can only say that based on the amount of questions in your post, you should really look for some professional advice, who considers you residency, nationality and a gazillion other things.
Considering accountants and tax advice / legal advice as an upsell is a pretty good way to end up in trouble in pretty much 100% of the cases.
Check out digitasfinance.com they focus on affiliate marketing and tax optimization, HK included I believe.
