I just can't get high CTR when targeting women.
I am running some dating campaigns that are targeting women in the US between age 40-60 (different age groups per campaign)
Keywords are around cats and dogs.
The images i have tested are guys with pets, playing with them, cuddling with them etc.
The CTR is really low.. The highest are around 0,085 after 100 clicks (2 of these ads are attached)
Try a different angle. I tried a similar angle on PoF a while back and couldnt get it to work either. After thinking about it for a bit I realised that few women are attracted to men because they are great with animals. What make me realize this was a post on the PoF forum (great source of knowledge to understand your target customer better). It was about the mistakes people make with profile pictures. The replies from women in that post indicated that one of the big mistakes men make is show a picture of them and their kids!
Yeah marco best option i can recommend is a new angle. To me those are pretty decent images for high CTR and if they're only getting a CTR of 0.085% after 100 clicks, then keep the main idea, but use a new angle. Also are you targeting single women only? Targeting all women will lower your CTR.
Possibly try the angle of prominent wealthy men. Women that age need security!

Cool info, this is the type of stuff i love about marketing.
Ok thanks guys. I was getting .50 - .80 cents epc on these, but cpc were just to high to get profit big ( i was 10 dollar profit on one ad were i spend 60 so not really worth it)
I am targeting singles, always with dating.
What were your conversion rates?
With the CTR you have your conversion rates must have been really high, and if that's the case then I'd continue with the campaign and try some more images. I'm sure you can find something that can pull of a 0.2% CTR. Which would get your at 100% ROI technically
For these 2 best performing ads the conversion rates were 10% and 13,8%
That's pretty good. I'd keep on working at it.
If you up your CTR, you have a STABLE + profiting campaign.
Just work hard and find more images, try more attractive looking men with pets, better face shots of the men, weirder pets, etc...
Ok thanks for telling me this has potentional. I will concetrate on this one in the next days. i will update stats here
I really think it does, everything looks solid except your CTR, and your can always increase your CTR with some hard work and testing.
What was your avg CPC for those 2 ads?
.77 cents for the ad with epc: .83 cvr: 13,8%
.90 cents for the ad with epc: .56 cvr: 10%
these 2 got around 100-110 clicks.
i've lowered bids, but could not lower them too much or traffic would stop
Oh yeah, those are high bids. 40cents bids should be easy with 0.2 - 0.25 CTR.
Have you found any new images? You have a winning campaign forsure...
Just rounded these up! All look very promising (just give them a nice cropping job)
- Also i suggest you try another campaign with girls 28-40 (both seem really promising)
- If you get it working, break the age brackets into ages of 4. 28-32, 32-36, 36-40, 40-44, etc...

Jordan, this is awesome! i haven't got time yet to find my own images, but this is just awesome. I will crop them today and find more pics and launch some new campaigns with the same targeting. I'll report back when i have some new stats!
Here is a update.
Spend $48
Reveneu $23 (4 conversions)
Images used : The ones you (Jordan) provided me, and more dog-men pics
I have launched 53 new ads : 1 img - 1 title - 1 body , devided in 3 campaigns
Sreenshots:
Campaign 1:

Campaign 2:

Campaign 3:

Prosper conversion stats:

As you can see the results are poor. The ctr is far too low.
I don't really know what to do with this campaign, i have the feeling its not worth it anymore. have tried over 200 images all together and none of those got higher then .1 CTR
Damn, i REALLY thought those images i listed above would have got much higher CTRs. I can tell you the main reason for low CTRs across the board is due to dating banner overload for women listed as 'single, and interested in men' on Facebook. Which is my main reason for failure on the Dating Facebook Apps campaign guide I'm writing up.
Back to your campaign, it's still just needing higher CTR ads, but if the images i sent you aren't doing it, then it's going to be pretty hard to find images that will. There's not much to do here, the only option is to up your CTR because everything else on the campaign is really good.
Also you could try keywords to up your CTR; dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, lolcats, german sheppard, poodle (other dog breeds), dog training, (all dog/cat brands) etc.. This will up your CTR, no question, but it will heavily decrease your target market. Still though assuming you can get 0.25% CTR, you could have a profiting campaign! I'd try it out with your top 2 ads, just to see quickly what CTR you can achieve. (the keywords will liekly up your CR on the offer too)
Thanks for your reply.
I don't know if you mentioned which offer your running, but I've ran Dating - Real Mature Singles (30+) and i know it has great conversion rates. Even if you could up your conversion rates though, upping your CTR is a must, 0.1% CTR and below is too low for long running profit.
Also can you screenshot 1 or 2 of your top ads -- assuming you don't mind sharing. I'd like to see if theirs anything i could improve and possibly run it myself to see if i could have it profit. (If i got it to profit i'd obviously share what i did so you could take it from there, i'm no thief!)
in my first post in this topic you will find the 2 best ads
Don't know if your still up for testing this, but I'd change the headline with some of your top images.
"Men Who Love Pets!"
"This Man Loves Dogs!"
"Real Men Have Cats!"
etc..
I will take your advise and test the headlines you provided and some of my own.
Let me know if you are going to test these ads too
