First 10$ Profit / +25$ Revenue
Hi there!
I am here to share my first "small" achievement in the Media Buying world. Yesterday i reached 10$+ Profit and +25$ Revenue with 2 Campaigns!

Usually i don't like to post stuff like this because in several other forums it would be considered "bragging" or being shady, but i think its okay to post it in STM, because it's private and there is a subforum dedicated to it. I could've also posted it in the 25$/Day Revenue Subforum, but to me the profit is more important than the revenue.
I still have a long way to go to, but i wanna thank everyone for now that has helped me along the way the last 2 months, especially vortex, twinaxe and jaybot
Lets see what the next days/weeks will bring me !
best regards

Hey heikoo congrats on your first victory! Sure profit > revenue any day no matter how big or small it is. I always say to myself that it is very important to appreciate every single victory no matter how big or small it is. If I can't feel joy earning 17$ today then I'm in real trouble I won't be happy no matter how much I earn. So always pursue that kind of mindset, just keep going and soon your monthly profits will become your weekly and then daily. And don't worry too much about other forums this isn't some random forum this is STM
you have the right to brag about you earned that.

This is pretty encouraging for a newbie like me, but do I need to lose a lot of money for a year to see a bit of green and then scaling?
I lost a bit like $12.5 because I chose the wrong offer. If I were not here, corrected well in time, I would have lost way more. Then a few months of focused effort on free traffic could bring this kind of result without losing money. But since time = money, I thought paid traffic is faster results. Again, do I need to wait for a year and blow thousands of $$$ to see any 'green'ery?
I am starting my second and third campaigns on Friday (MGID native and Evadav push) after the feedback from here, please give me a bit of encouragement!

Some reach that in weeks, some in months, some never. You
need to specialize in something, somehow. Could be a traffic source, could be a vertical, choose someting you are most familiar now with, or which does attract you the most for some reason. Monitoring your tracks last days I am guessing it would take months with your approach. Go back to the drawing table, focus on something and go more in-depth step by step. This way you gonna defeat competition and become more skillful to tackle newbie mistakes. It's very de-motivating if you lose money on all those different tests where the chance of hitting someting potentially good is very slim.
This shotgun technic, dabbling in every traffic source and vertical and the "need" to learn them all, is very in-effective mate. Hope you find the right path soon.

I appreciate your honest feedback and this is what others have told me too! Believe me I am not into too many... just exploring before I implement in ONE or TWO - believe in the power of ONE. And it's not that I will keep changing verticals once I lose a bit of money. But the last one with the payout of $600 in the crypto vertical is certainly not for beginners, which experienced members rightly pointed out and corrected me.
And who knows my next campaign may just kick-off after I do a bit of optimization with the feedback from here. So, it could be days instead of months if I take the feedback here seriously. At the end of the day I don't want to lose money and precious time.
Here's the thing- I had personal issues for which they did not allow me to write exams for my masters and I appealed against it. There were 50 teachers all with PhDs and not a single one said I will pass and I managed a first division! Then I had an illness and every doctor said I will be on medication for life. I haven't taken a pill for 18 years now. Just pulling out a couple of cases from too many.

My sister was told she has max 3 months to live for her advanced stage 4 aggressive cancer two years back. She's still around.
Let's see how I turn around things for myself this time.

I mean, its been "only" 2 months for me of starting my Media Buying Journey. And i think it is pretty normal for everyone starting out here to lose money at first. Take a look at the Follow Alongs in the newbie section. Most, if not all of of us are losing money in the beginning, simply because we don't know any better. We have the 40 Day Guide but that doesn't cover us from making bad decisions (choosing the wrong offer, traffic source, etc.) - I see Media Buying somewhat as a game of luck in the beginning but you can slightly predict the outcome. If i start out with Pops i wanna target the most broad audience with the most broad offer that everyone likes, so naturally i would go for something like a Amazon Giftcard instead of something niche related, such as a 7Eleven or a Baby Diaper Giftcard.
To get started in Media Buying, you need information. I don't think a lot of people these days, start out with a fresh campaign and make money right away (especially on Pops). I had to cut out some placements that were eating up money, had to cut out iOS because it didn't convert for me and then slowly you see some conversions, get more info from your tracker and you start to see patterns. From those patterns you can either decide to scale up to other sources, try more offers in that specific niche or expand your targetting options (targetting Desktop for example). But you need information, and you can only get this by running your campaign and potentially losing money.
I also think that the more money you spend, the better chances you have, of finding a winner variation. The less money you spend, the less risk you have, but the longer it takes to find the best variations. For me, i choose the slow way. Not because i want to, but because i have fear. That's why my Follow Along is titled "Conquering the Fear of Media Buying"

It took me 120 offers and 3 months or so till I saw steady green. I knew PS, little bit of html, css and a bit of .js just enough to edit the code and get what I wanted and I wasn't afraid to mess with server when I started.
I had 20k ready to burn without blink of an eye. I thought I was ready.
I was confident I will be on Hawaii very next week, with sombrero on my head and cocktail in my hand. Well both of them
But boy was I naive
I remember I had a clean victory very early on pops. Ready to crush and make probably my first xxx/day in first week.
But I didn't. I didn't spotted it's a win.
I paused that campaign for no reason ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I know now it was a pure win but back then I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't realize how bad I was.
Bleeding that money all over the place, like it's a set for Tucker & Dale vs. Evil. Buying that data
The thing is - no one was born knowing how to do anything and same applies to affiliate marketing and every other aspect. We are all humans made of flesh and blood and we all made mistakes in the beginning.
Don't let me pull the parable about how to ride a bike now, but you get it.
It's perfectly normal to suck for a few months, but just keep on going and going and going and you will gain XP and see that green light at the end of the tunnel.

My allocated budget is $1500 - $625 in MGID Native, $775 in Evadav Push, $100 in admaven. If I don't see the green, every possibility I say quits at least for the moment and focus on free traffic. I know for sure I will see the green in months there without spending a penny...
Just like you and many many others I got interested in paid traffic because of quick results. Monetizing a website or youtube channel with cpa offers is way easier than paid affiliate offers.
Testing out Facebook ads on an ecommerce/dropshipping store seems far less risky than $20k! I can tell it's easy there to hit the green with $500 investment in a couple of weeks.
I have $769 worth of ad credit with Evadav and am planning to buy the rest of my budget tonight. But, honestly I am scared now!
I am targeting cheap countries like India, Brazil, Asia, Central America ( 0.5 to 2 cent clicks) for small offers of $0.5 to $1.5 payouts, so if I am not getting a conversion for an ad spend of $5, I guess there should be something wrong with the offer or GEO or targeting if the landing page and ad copy from spy tool is highly converting and I have cleaned the lander well. I guess it's not as simple as that, but I need to do the work, and see what's happening.
Thank you very much for sharing your journey - much appreciated!
@
heikoo really appreciate the pain you took to share your journey. Thank you!

I agree (even though I am not speaking from experience

) I have a small budget of $1500, if it fails, I will go for free traffic with youtube, blog, instagram, and email marketing. I know I will see results there in a few months without spending a dime. Paid traffic seems lucrative to many for possibly quick results and I am no exception.

Brave. You will get
slaughtered on Native with that budget. Push... maybe if you're
lucky. Ad-maven is a great scaling source for pops and push, not the best for testing. And it sounds like you are still in testing stages.

Then go do that! Seriously. If you are sure of it, then why would you waste your time and money on paid ads?

You can tell? It's easy? Then go do that. Why waste your time on something so uncertain as paid ads?
Look. I want you to succeed. I want
everyone to succeed.
But you're going around everything so haphazardly, it's painful to watch.
As stickupkid said above, focus on
one (preferably cheap) source. Push is good if you're in it already. Stick with that. Evadav does push too. Don't waste your budget on Native.
Stick to the basics before get hurt trying to do crazy stunts.

Yeah let’s not steal the thunder of @heikoo ‘ achievement.
It’s a shame all this basic knowledge is getting snowed under by less important stuff. If people read first, this forum is golden and even a newbie should find a certain direction inspired by all the cases and follow alongs!
Go get em @heikoo!
