Tracking Question
Hi All,
This might sound like a stupid question, however it keeps me bothering for quite a while now. I will try to explain my question with a scenario. Just FYI for the purpose of this question I am using Voluum as the tracking solution.
I create a traffic buying campaign and a person views the landing page. However, he does not buy anything. i.e. he does not make a conversion on the website.
However, a few weeks after he remembers what he saw., he goes back to the website and decides to buy the product on a later stage.
My question: Can this sale be tracked? Would it count as a conversion? Would I get my affiliate %?
This might be a noob question. But I would really appreciate if someone gives me an answer to this.
Thank you in advance
Georgi

Hi,
When someone visits your landing page without clicking to the offer, the affiliate cookie that will attribute the sale to you hasn’t been set yet.
So unfortunately if they go directly to the offer page without clicking through on your landing page, you won’t get the commission.
This is a situation where running a retargeting campaign can help capture that conversion and give you the commission.
Here are two videos that can help you out with remarketing

It works like that with affiliate programs that have cookies set up in place.
Usually there are 24 hours, 3-7 days or even 30 days cookies.
But most of the offers in the CPA affiliate space do not have cookies and the sale will be counted only if the user convert BEFORE he leaves that page.
This can however happen even 1 week later if he doesn't close his browser window (very usual especially on mobile if he keeps that tab open).

If the person who clicked your ad views YOUR LANDING PAGE ONLY and not the 'offer page', then no, you would not get a commission if he ends up converting at some point in the future, because the affiliate network never cookied his browser or took down his IP info or did whatever other magic they do to track people.
If the person who clicked your ad clicks again on your landing page and then lands on the OFFER PAGE, then he would be cookied/etc and you would get any sales that took place within that offer's conversion window.
That all depends on the network... Clickbank for instance has a 30 day cookie I believe, some networks have a 10 day cookie, Amazon's affiliate program is only a 1 day window but you get a commission on everything the person buys- not just the product they clicked on on your site, and then- finally- some networks will even give you the commission if the person who originally clicked through your landing page doesn't buy initially but buys a day later after searching for the product on google or amazon...
Hope that helps!
