Would this work? (7)

Would this work?

Noob here only 3 weeks into PPC + CPA marketing. Sorry if silly question.

So we know that without cloaking Google will suspend affiliate accounts sending to advertorials or direct to AFF landing pages. Often I get disapproval reason:

Policy: Circumventing systems, Malicious or unwanted software
What about this instead:
1. Create landing page with e-book download offer in exchange for name & email
2. Capture Google traffic to this page collect emails
3. Target these users with Email series to sell Aff products

Is this commonly done by some people with success? would this model work? I guess CPC has to be very low to work, as clicks > emails might go at 10%. Then emails > convert maybe 5%?

Yes, that is very common on both google and facebook.

I would aim for a higher opt-in for the email signup but also expect a much lower conversion rate for the emails.

The email biz seems to be all about lifetime value of customer, so basically you track how much money each 1000 email signups generate per month, and then do the math to find out your average first month revenue per signup, then your lifetime revenue, etc.

Then you would typically lose money or maybe break-even per signup, but make money long term.

So, say you have an email list about prepping and sell prepping-oriented affiliate offers, maybe you pay 2$ per email signup and typically make 1.50$ per month per signup for an average duration of 6 months, etc.

That's an EXTREMELY rough, simplified version and the numbers could be way off, but just wanted to confirm that your thinking is indeed solid. You may have even heard the phrase "the money is in the list", which folks say who argue (correctly in most cases I would say) that list-building is the 'best practices' approach to internet marketing, as it allows you to maximize lifetime value and thus 'outbid' your competitors who only monetize the front-end.

But yeah, most folks getting into affiliate marketing go with push or pops or native or maybe facebook - PPC is rare. I know very little about it but it seems to me the learning curve might be steep/expensive but the rewards might be quite vast if you can crack it.

If I remember right there's a few decent ppc 'gurus' on Youtube- I think a lot of them use Bing to run stuff direct and then use both it and google cpc to build lists, just as you're talking about.

It seems to be more of a specialized knowledge-base than a lot of other traffic sources, and I think a lot of the guys who master it and up doing more of an agency thing where they are running search for other folks and getting a cut of the revenue and/or profit.

PS Also- just to continue to riff on your brainstorming lol... you can even insert affiliate links into the pdf 'ebook' download you are giving away. So continue with the 'prepper' theme, you could do an ebook called "The Top 30 Things Every Prepper Should Have" and have maybe 5 of them be Clickbank products or other affiliate offers that are linked to from the pdf itself. That helps you maximize your front end revenue while still being focused on list-building and lifetime customer value.

IMO, emails tend to convert on the low side as compared to a proven pre sell landing page.. also depends on the offer you are promoting

Thanks for the brainstorm and this idea. Just occurred to me I could make the e-book a similar version to my advertorial offer for weight loss products, effectively circumventing the cloaking issues. So could still hit front end and back end.

I'm a PPC specialist for 10 years, so that part I get but always ran for real/white hat business. Its just this affiliate stuff I'm trying to work out So far made about $600 from $600 ad spend, but that is not optimized so I'm seeing the potential.

@xander I am new to cloakers & how they work. Can you point me in direction of a good one or a thread on this? thank you.

No need to cloak or do anything fancy. As long as you're not direct linking or using a bridge page, google won't mind: as long as it is a 'site with value'.

Site with value means content which looks valuable. So.

Create a blog using Wordpress focused on the topic of the product being offered.

Have more than one blog post, using swipes from emails if available.

Have multiple pages: reviews of product/s, tips and tricks, long-form sales page

Have one of the pages be your email sign up form, which a) collects their email and b) sends them to a lander page for the product

Split test PPC to land on email sign up form, blog post, long-form page and see which does better.
