Native - Mobile or Desktop ?

Hi Guys
We are starting some Native Campaigns these days for the same Geos we target in Push
For us - Mobile was much better by far from Desktop users, so we almost dont target desktop users.

now, i know that each campaign works differently and there are many component - but can u tell me how the mobile/desktop traffic works for Native?
according to Adplexity it looks like desktop is rocking

looking forward ot your insights

tnx

Adplexity can be heard to make sense of at times because some traffic sources show up more than others (Taboola and Yahoo gemini ads show up little relatively, whereas Outbrain and Revc ones show up like crazy) so could be same for devices. Also anything with geo-targeting in the ad title will show up infinitely more than something without it, since Adplexity views each geographic iteration as a different ad.

I believe most of the inventory on those networks is mobile by a small margin, which would mirror the internet at large.

Generally desktop converts better than mobile seems to be the common wisdom, but its also more expensive, so mobile can often outperform it in my experience.

It also depends on the offer type.

VSL's seem to do much better on desktop it seems, whereas mobile seems great for lead-gen a lot of the time.

Ecom is mixed bag..

I find senior offers work great on tablet, but tablet can be poor for other types of offers (probably a really distinct demographic using tablet I would guess).

But yeah, mostly you just gotta experiment I guess

Adplexity and other spy tools can be quite misleading in terms of whats working or not as it's secondhand info and subject to how well their bots are picking up stuff. It's another reason why grabbing placements to build a whitelist from spy tools doesn't pan out so well, especially if someones running broadly. Always better to go to your traffic rep and get them to tell you firsthand what's doing best, and use spy tools just for seeing what creatives are doing best.

Regarding device types always want to be running them all, just at different bids.

I've never really given devices too much thought beyond at as pertaining to verticals, since there's always something you can do to boost ad CTR or conversion rate, but desktop can definitely be a tougher nut to crack for some offers with the higher bids. On Revcontent majority of my success came from mobile and lesser extent tablet, whereas on Taboola desktop makes up a bigger %. Was always the odd desktop push widget on revcontent that did great though. Tablet seems like a happy medium that's being doing well for me on Taboola especially on sites like MSN lately, as it's between the bids of mobile and desktop, but with a higher purchase intent that mobile. On Powerinbox though desktop is by far the winner vs others.
