So like most affiliates already know, as an affiliate marketer you always have tracking problems due to the fact that the sales happen externally on someone else’s website. If you are a website owner for instance owning a (big) comparison-, discount code- or content site with hundreds of affiliate links from multiple networks like Awin, ShareAsale, CJ, Tradetracker or Partnerize it seems impossible to get the affiliate sales data automatically into Google Analytics, Facebook Ads and other marketing tools, which is quite problematic when you buy traffic or want to properly A/B- or user-behaviour test pages based on affiliate sales data.
So in order to improve the whole thing I started using SubIDs a lot of years ago which led me to the idea that there must be a way to actually attribute the sales to the traffic data and thus somehow automatically integrate it into Google Analytics, Facebook Ads, Google Ads and other marketing tools. And after a loooot of research and work, a friend and I finally managed to pull this off!
We finally got 98% of our commission data into Google Analytics and thus the relevant data into Google Ads. This was incredible and opened up so many new opportunities for us. We were able to scale up our well performing campaigns, optimize campaigns on keyword level, eliminate campaigns that were not working at all, eliminate partnerships that generated traffic but no sales, A/B test landing pages and content, see entire user reports and analyse the user behavior of our converters, create converter audiences, build successful partnerships with other companies with which we shared revenue, sort our website content based on sales data and a lot more!
Things were improving dramatically and we had endless ideas of what else to build on top of that, but one thought especially intrigued us even more and that was to actually offer this as a service to other affiliate marketers. And that is exactly what we decided to do. So the next thing we did is leave the affiliate company we worked for and started a new company with which we built this affiliate tracking and integration solution as a software.
We worked very hard on this and it took us quite some to get it to what it is now and I want to share this with as many affiliate publishers (owning websites) as possible because this was such a game changer for us.
