Hi All,
I have a silly, newbie question about checking offer links from affiliate networks in the mobile/sweepstakes categories:
When I click an offer link provided by an affiliate network, more often than not my anti-virus software will flag the website as "risky" due to the website containing Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs) or just generally being insecure.
I'm guessing most of these domains are bare bones from an encryption standpoint and therefore get flagged. I need to be able to check out what the offer is before I start running it, should I be approaching this differently or be more relaxed about the real risk these websites pose?
Many thanks for any input!
First things, are you sure you check the actual offer URL or do you maybe get redirected to a smartlink when you check from wrong geo or device or connection or whatever?
Because on smartlinks it can happen more often compared to normal offer links that you see flagged domains.
Also when you have the problem that the real offer URLs get flagged more often you should ask your network about it.
Usually that shouldn't happen too much.
Usually there also are replacement domains so that they can rotate them to prevent that something like this happens.
Thanks! You're right, I was checking from the wrong geo in many cases and getting redirected.
Looks like I need to read up on smartlinks!
Haha yes, things like that can happen pretty easy.
Good that we solved it
