Why Do Some Traffic Sources Not Post Cost To Your Tracker?

I'm just curious... Why do some traffic sources not have a cost macro? Having to manually enter costs into your tracker kind of slows the entire process down.

Why Do Some Traffic Sources Not Post Cost To Your Tracker?

Few reasons I can think off the top of my head

Depending on the traffic source, a decent amount (5-10%) of Clicks aren’t going to make it to your tracker for various reasons, so that messes up your numbers

Traffic source automatically check your landers for compliance regularly, these checks would need the CPC cost parameter attached to seem authentic, so it would totally mess with your numbers

Websites selling the traffic would click through links and see the amount being charged, they could very easily see the traffic source margin and demand a higher payment in future.

It’s not totally in the interest of the traffic source to help make optimising zones and spends easy. They might prefer you spend more overall.

Some trackers like Voluum are building intergrations however, for example their AdWords one updates spend over the api

My take on it...

So they can screw you... its that simple...

It's no secret traffic sources make a lot of money off fraudulent / low quality traffic.

The less info they share with you the better for them.
