How I started as a Push beginner (12)

How I started as a Push beginner

I know that beginners often struggle a bit when they start with paid traffic.
Nowadays many newbies start with Push traffic and unluckily don´t see the results they were looking for.

In some areas we all are beginners and this is why I thought that I just tell about my Push story and how I started as Push newbie
I hope this will give some motivation.

The last years I was a Pop affiliate and probably 99% of my traffic was from Pops.
I was never really interested in Push traffic although it was seen as THE new hype.
In the end I just discovered the nice sides of Push traffic by accident, I never intended to run it on higher scale.

Of course I also tested few things here or there.
Mostly smaller tests, different verticals to see what works on Push and what not.
It was beginning of last year when I tested my the first campaigns, only very low scale and not worth talking about.
It wasn´t interesting for me so I didn´t run further tests for a few months.
Then I continued and tested more to see if I find something that works for me.
I tested sweeps, nutra, crypto, dating, mobile content, gambling, surveys, streaming and much more.
In the end many things worked somehow but still there was nothing that convinced me to focus more on Push so I just kept running my Pop campaigns.

I still continued testing something here and there.
Had some fails and some good campaigns, this one HERE for example was lucky hit.
I also lost some money because of stupid mistakes.
I spent maybe $8k on Push for about $6k revenue and with the knowledge I have now I could easily have saved a good part of the money.

Then I wanted to scale some offers that I ran on Pops and because I had so many Pop campaigns running for it already I wanted to see if I can scale a bit with Push.

And boy was I surprised, yes I could scale it pretty good on Push.

I decided to test more on Push and it didn't take long to have the first $XXX day and not much later I had the first $1k+ revenue day and my best revenue day was about $2k and best profit day was about $900.
In the beginning not all days were profitable because I also had to learn about Push traffic myself, test different sources, optimize my processes, gather enough stats for good lists.
But then it settled and now I run the campaigns for some time already rather easy without much more work involved on a pretty nice ROI.

My former Push campaigns that I tested here and there were all pretty unstable and unpredictable so I am positive surprised how stable my campaigns now are.
Of course one advantage was that I ran that stuff already on Pops so I already had good offers and a working landing page.
But now I also run other verticals and offers on Push because the more you run the easier it will become to test new verticals and offers because you already have good data to rely on.

What helped me to succeed was to test alot, replicate what´s working and run many campaigns with it.
But even for testing and collecting stats there are different ways how to do it and from talking with some beginners I know that you often can save lots of money when you only do some small changes in your process.

For me important things are for example

- What trafficsource to use and when to use it (some are better for testing, others are better for scaling)
- How to work with creatives (I like it simple and effective)
- How to target and to bid
- What to run and how to run it
- How to scale

Right now I write a Push Traffic 101 about these things, a small guide with some tips and tricks about how to start with Push Traffic without losing too much money aka without making some of the stupid mistakes I did
I will try to cover everything important for beginners to have a good start and will post it here as soon as it´s ready.
Additional I will try to get some case studies on Push published soon to show you some successful campaigns.

Oooh, looking forward to this!

Really interested to see which sources are better for testing and scaling (I have my own favorites as well. but nowhere near as successful as you).

Bidding is super difficult compared to pop too. I've heard arguments for super low and super high bidding, so it will be interesting to hear another take.

I would love to see your Push 101 guide. Congrats on your success with Push traffic. Although for me, it's not working that good. I have spent $200 so far and only 2 leads for 2 different offers. I don't think they will convert in the long run, so I am stopping the campaigns. I will top up one more time today and try how it goes before stopping the test for this month. I will be creating a thread soon about my journey so far.

Probably you will be surprised.
I think in some way I have my very own approaches to do things.
For me it´s mostly about working as simple and effective as possible.

Yes, you CAN lose lots of money on Push as well.
For example I once made a very stupid mistake that costed me more than $1k on only one day.
Will write more about it in the guide.

I also try to check your journey when it´s posted

Fantastic, very much looking forward to this!

I've been mostly focused on pop right now and have only dabbled in push with limited success, always meaning to get into it more, so this feels very relevant. Cheers!

This is such a useful thread thanks for posting - I am very new with push and keep dipping my toe in with no real conviction to date - £10 - £20 there.

I have decided to commit to a bigger spend, after doing some research i identified an opportunity worth exploring - I would like to get some advice regarding when does it to get to the point you know the campaign wont work?

Basically I am looking at a Casino campaign with a high CPA - but seeing little results even with registration as part of the process for the spend - so after say $100 USD spent an no registrations - do you give it another 100 to see if you get a reg or 2 to start filtering?

Any insights or thoughts are very much appreciated. Thanks, A
