What do you do when an offer dies? (6)

What do you do when an offer dies?

Hey guys,

So I had a profitable campaign, but then the offer got pulled and I didn't have a back up offer (lesson learned).

So I started testing new offers with street payouts using the same funnel on the same spot, but couldn't get it to work, so then I started testing other spots using the "same funnel" aka same LPs and similar banners (same girls, similar angles), but it feels like as if I'm starting from scratch on these new spots, even though it's the same site!

I guess my question is, do "proven funnels" work for different spots on the same site?

Or does a proven funnel perform very differently depending on if it's header vs footer, etc?

Thank you!

You can use the same landing pages / banners to start, but in my experience just swapping out the offer with another one usually won't get you to profits.

Obviously the profitable campaign that just died was custom tailored to that specific offer/offer page, so you're going to have to test and probably start over again.

Same with the spots you were working on, maybe the audience that worked for the first offer won't be a good fit for the new ones.

Different spots never perform exactly the same, in most cases, you need to tweak the funnel at least a bit.

The good thing is, that once a funnel worked well on some spot, it should work at least decently on the other ones, and it usually is the case. This makes your life easier as you have some benchmark funnel to go by and you do not have to start from scratch again.

Sometimes all you need to play with is the bid, header vs footer can be quite different and you need to find the sweet spot. People are also more likely to click on a NTV banner than a footer, since they are kinda banner blind by the time they reach the bottom of the site, so footer banners should be more eye catching. It also has to do with the ad-zone layout.. where there is just 1 or 2 NTV spots, there are often 3 or even 4 footer spots next to each other (on desktop).

Well no. Because every spot is different even if its on the same site. Different bids, different CTRs, different user experiences, different positions .etc will affect your performance in each spot.

But scaling proven funnels horizontally and vertically is a great strategy.

You just need to realize that the reason for a funnel to work can be a number of things -> underpriced traffic, great offer, decent funnel .etc. If a funnel is exceptional you should see a huge performance boost in the campaign during your tests, which will allow you to scale quickly and profitably.

In general, if a funnel is "exceptional" scale horizontally and vertically extremely fast and then cut down losing spots drastically. That is how you go from $500 a day to $5000 a day. If the funnel is "just decent", scale only to your proved campaigns (from previous tests).

It also comes down to experience.

I think the thing here is that similar offers doesn't necessarily work over time in the same way. We have tried over time a lot of offers that converted amazingly well for like a month, and then decreed until complete halt. Refreshing the banners could have an extremly huge change on the way the offers convert.
