Is it legal to buy a facebook fan page?

Hi guys
There is a big page I want to buy because I think the audience there fits a product I want to promote, is it possible to buy a page and change its purpose completely without facebook banning it?

If any of you has experience with this I would be happy to hear

Thanks!

I don't have any idea if Facebook would ban it or not but I can't imagine it's illegal... people buy and sell Youtube channels all the time so I would think a facebook fan page would be the same...

I remember reading it's not prohibited to sell Facebook pages. Especially not if you don't stick to the current subject. If it's a mid xxx price I would take the shot, but that's just my personal opinion. Try to adjust your angle to the current setup man, there must be a way!

*edit; see here a post of 2017 on Quora.

I sold over 100 pages in total and never had problems with it.

This is kinda grey area, covered in the terms in a very vague way. In case I understand it correctly, for this transaction to be "safe", facebook would have to approve it, which is very unlikely to happen. This doesn't mean pages don't get sold, as escobar confirmed above, it's happening all the time. The important thing to note here, is that the page itself is still a property of facebook, so to speak... and they can decide to ban/unpublish it any time.

Here is an article I found, it's about groups, but I guess the situation would be similar with pages: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-46442029

One more article here: https://www.socialmediatoday.com/new...rights/543571/ They mention certain part of the FB terms that should address this, but when I check Fb terms, that section is not there, at least not in the localized version I get redirected to. Maybe it will be different for you.
