$10,000 a day running Sweepstakes on FB

Hello friends,

Its been a while since our last follow along when we started with AM. A lot of things have happened in between those 4-5 years. It feels like yesterday we were figuring out how to host a landing page and resolve tracking issues.

Even thought we have seen so much stuff in those years, so many things still need to be learned. Our Focus the past 3 years has been running BH Gaming on FB - never even tried to run Nutra, sweeps or any other popular verticals.

So we thought our self, why not learn how to run a completely new vertical and document it like back in the old days? We always enjoyed doing this and it also helps us to stay committed and actually deliver some results.

Our Goals for this Follow Along:

So far we spend quite some time doing some research to get familiar with the vertical and how things are being run. We literaly did read every follow along and searched all of stickupkids comments and threads to get a good understanding of how to run sweeps.

Current insights so far:

Update #1 - 22/10/2019

So far we did run only 1 campaign over the weekend to get started with. We split tested 1 giveaway with 3 advertisers. 2 didn't convert at all, while the other one did convert around 13%. Not good, not bad.

However, the campaigns was losing around -50% due to all the testing. Unfortunately the account got banned after around $250 spend, which was very surprising. We have much more aggressive stuff lasting 10x longer lol.

Anyways, this are the insights we collected so far:

Today we have a bunch of stuff ready to go. Launching around 8 campaigns at $100 each, for 4 different giveaways/products.

They have all the following structure:

This is it for now. Hope everything gets approved and we get some data tomorrow. Best case scenario would be of course to hit green right off the bat, but I am not really expecting it so far. The main goal would be to to nail down Offer CR and Lander CTR, then master how to get those high CTR ads up and get a <$0,10 CPC.

- Surprisingly Cloaking and tracking is not needed (correct, although a tracker will give you advantages. if you are a bit techy at least and implementing all doesnt take much time normally, do so!)
- Keeping it stupid simple will do the Job (correcto!)
- 3-4 Question surveys seem to be the way to go (yes, but maybe add a little twist design/season/layout-wise to diverse/compete better)
- Good LP CTR: > 50% / Good offer CR: > 20%+ / Good CPC for T1 Geo: < $0.10 (ofcourse this depends on geo, angle, advertiser etc etc)

Really love when people just start testing after reading instantly. It could be dead simple indeed and having -50% ROI from start shouldn't be that hard to convert into a green campaign with your experience!

Good luck!

Update #2 - 23/10/2019

What is up gangsters. Another day passed by and we got some more data. Unfortunately not all of the campaigns went live, but we did get 7 campaigns approved for 3 different Products. Some where in the green, some others not so green, haha.

This are the stats for the interesting product/campaigns to give you a guys a better understanding.

Product 1 - The most promising right now
Campaign - 1
Spend: $100
Revenue: $140
Profit: $40
ROI: 40%
Stats: LPCTR - 35% / EPC - $0.51 / Offer CR: 14%

Campaign - 2
Spend: $100
Revenue: $165
Profit: $65
ROI: 65%
Stats: LPCTR - 45% / EPC - $0.44

Both of the campaigns have similar Stats regarding AD CTR on FB and CPC cost ($0.15, CTR ranging from 6-9%).

Product 2 - Not great not bad
Campaign - 1
Spend: $100
Revenue: $36
Profit: -$64
ROI: -64%
Stats: LPCTR - 55% / EPC - $0.33 (on the good offer) / Offer CR: 7%

The bad stats on this offer come through the fact that we were split testing 2 advertiser sand 1 had 0 conversions. It seems like the links are broken from this specific advertiser as the same happened on another product. So if traffic would've been running to the same offer, its actually not that bad and might have some potential. The other account with the same campaign got banned on launching but is back now and is looking good today, will update the stats tomorrow for both campaigns.

What is surprising tho is that the stats for this campaign here are looking very good CTR wise, but our CPC is still somewhat high. I see a trend that the older the geo, especially 55+ is getting highest CTRs and cheapest clicks, but I don't think this'll enable us to scale high volume to target only older demos. What do You think? We will probably copy the assets into a new campaign and see how that will work out. Usually this is fucking things up somehow and we might just launch the same campaign on a new account with only the older demo 55-65 and 65+

Product 3 - Not great either
Campaign - 1
Spend: $180
Revenue: $55
Profit: -$135
ROI: -64%
Stats: LPCTR - 65% / EPC - $0.48 (on the good offer) / Offer CR: 13%

The third product was running on 2 accounts as well, however this one was not losing too promising. On both accounts around -80% on $100 spend each. Had Low Ad CTR of around 3%, but LP CTR was very good with like 65%. Will try to spin up new ads and also focus only on the converting advertiser. Maybe we can save it.

However, what I noticed on this lander is the LPCTR. The lander has the offer button above the fold when finishing the quiz. On the other landers people have to scroll a bit it seems. We will pay now more attention and test for different mobile devices to make sure all buttons are above the fold, so the users don't have to scroll in order to click around. I am sure that should help.

Overall we spend around $500-$600 on traffic and made $400 back. Not too bad considering we are still testing a lot.

However I do have some questions:
  1. From previous experience - what is a good AD CTR and CPC for Germany?
  2. Any tips for things that we could to to bring down that CPC? We will of course test more images and angles, but it seems like EPCs are so low and we want to make sure those stats are okay for Germany.
  3. Why are advertisers so different and unstable? Some campaigns were tanking yesterday and looking better today. For others its the other way around. It seems like all very unstable and CR/EPC is swinging a lot.

We are firing up 2 new products today as well and hopefully get some more data. Will also work on the promising product a nd work on different landers/ads to see if we can increase some metrics (increase LP CTR) and scale there. Eventually run the same campaign up with assets targeting only older audiences.

Update #3 - 25/10/2019

Whats up hustlers, just dropping some quick updates and insights that might help some of you getting started with sweeps. Wednesday looked very promising. We were kinda breakeven on all the sweeps traffic ($900 spend, $900 rev). 3 Campaigns with Offer 1 were all profitable at around 50-70% ROI. Other new products didn't do so well and were losing, so not a big deal. while it sucks to not make money, we are learning a lot which is great.

We did "optimise" some campaigns, but as expected things went to shit. Literally every time we cut an adset in CBO campaign, the whole campaign goes down the shitter. So what we gonna do from now is duplicate the campaign and only add the adsets that we really want to have. You can see the example below how turning off 1 adset within a CBO campaign fucks up the whole campaign to the worse. This literally happened on ALL 4 campaigns we did try that, lol.

Sometimes I just feel we have no idea about FB, even though we pushed millions in adspend. With BH you usually just launch a campaign and leave it. It will most likely turn a profit. And if not, just launch the campaign again and it most likely will work, lol. From now on we probably will just start a new separate campaign with the target audience to see if it works better. We usually never optimise any of our other campaigns and this is quite new to us.

With that being said, overall was a very bad day on FB yesterday. Somehow all campaigns went to the shitter. Even the 3 profitable ones, so might have just been a bad day on FB. They had a lot of errors and bugs yesterday, so it might be related to that and our tests might be skewed by that, but whatever.

This doesn't change the fact that we gathered some revolutionary insights from a good friend of ours, who used to be in the email business. He introduced us to a direct advertiser and we run a small split test between the network we currently work with and the advertiser. I knew that the results should be better, but I wasn't aware of how much people do get scrubbed on this offers.

The network gets scrubbed by the advertiser, and you get scrubbed by the network.

Double penetration.

It would've been great if we know that before. That way we could have put on some lipstick and at least look pretty when they fuck us.

With that being said, if you see payouts over $2 for a T1 geo, you get scrubbed. Look at this split test between a network offer at $3,3 against a direct offer with $1.8 payout and supposedly 0 scrub (you never know, right)

Surprise Motherfuckers.

We knew that you get scrubbed hard, but it never was so clear to me how hardcore offer owners and networks scrub. I am not sure how it is for other verticals, but leadgen seems to be pretty crazy. Now I know its balancing out with a higher CPA and less CR, but still. It just fucks with your data, especially on high payout offers like gaming or crypto etc.

So if you can, do your tests on networks and then try build a relationship with a direct advertiser asap. That way you will get fucked only once and might still be left with some profit after that.

Moving forward we will probably pause the network offers and focus on working with this advertiser now and see if we can turn some profits. The EPC looks better already but as said, campaigns were not doing well yesterday. Hope we can see more green in the next week with the good offers and actually make some money.

Peace out. Will update probably after the weekend again.

The network gets scrubbed by the advertiser, and you get scrubbed by the network.

Double penetration.
That's sadly the reality of this industry - everyone's trying to maximize their profits, and being the lowest in the chain, affiliates get fucked the hardest.

Having said that: Some of us affiliates are cunning as well - we scam and deceive when collecting leads, and when they don't subsequently make money for the advertiser, they refuse to pay the network and the network gets screwed. So we can't really place all the blame on networks for trying to recap some of those losses.

You guys need to tell the network "hey look - THIS is our track record with other networks and THIS is a link to our success story on STM and THIS is a link to our follow-along thread - if you guys help us succeed, we may just mention your network to give you some exposure too."

Not saying that will work - just saying it can't hurt to try.

Also: Actively doing what you can to keep quality acceptable can help. If your network scrubs everyone equally hard anyways then of course that won't help much, but if it's a decent network that only scrubs when your quality is low, then chatting with them to find out how you can increase the quality to curb the scrubbing is worth a shot.

Here are some basic tips on quality, which you guys may already be familiar with:

A big THANK YOU to you guys for yet another insightful follow-along! You guys are dropping nuggets all over the place here.

I hope the mastermind has been helping you go big

Ya going direct helped me hit my first huge epc’s. Only get fucked over once if you can.

Anyway keep up the good work brother.

P.S. Oh yeah if you’re following this FA and already hitting $X,XXX per day with sweeps ... AND you want to meet others at the same level:

My suggestion:

Join an elite sweeps mastermind. Wait but you don’t know of any?

Well luckily I have one and it’s free.

Also, it’s exclusive (need to verify performance to get in) and it’s private too since we trade a lot of secrets.

PM me your skype for an interview request if interested.
