Hey!
I'd like to know in general how long your campaigns last on MGID before they start declining?
A little backstory... I am running COD offers (mainly EU and Asia GEOS) on MGID and have had pretty good success - that is until up to about 1-2 weeks when the campaign dies a slow death.
Before I create the campaign I see what ads/LPs/offer others are running, if I see a lot of people running an offer I will make sure it's still doing good volume up till today (looking on spy tool at the daily graph), then I will copy most popular ads and a couple of different ones of my own, same with headline. Sometimes I will change image like flip it or change brightness etc. On top of that I will ask my AM.
Once the campaign is live, most of the time it shows good potential from the start - I get a few conversions in the first few days. Once data comes in I choose the best LP and ads that have most conversions and then I let it run while blocking bad wigets. Since I am using the affiliate network LP I can't track LP CTR - maybe this is a bad idea as I can't block bad wigets on LP CTR?
This is when think all is going good, but after about 1 week sometimes 2, the campaign slowly dies. I try to upload new ads but none ever do as well as the first ones. The traffic volume doesn't change all that much, but conversions get lower and lower which eat into my profits. I try to block more bad widgets but it doesn't help. The widgets that WERE profitable getting lower EPC. This is when I try changing bids to lower, then traffic gets less and eventually the campaign dies.
It's funny because when I do spy I see people running the same ads for ever it seems.
Soo, I would like to ask those much more experienced who run on MGID what my problem may be? Are people sick of the offer or my ads? Even though I have tried to keep the ads fresh.
How long do your campaigns last?
Sorry for the essay lol
Cheers
It would definitely seem preferable to self-host a version of the lp... even if it's a hassle or it doesn't quite convert as well, it must be VERY expensive only optimizing via conversions and not lp ctr... especially if- as I seem to remember- MGID sends clicks from a huge number of widget's typically...
That's the only part of the question I feel qualified to expound on, so hopefully some MGID experts will chime in as well
Thanks the your input Jack. I will be adding my own landing pages because I would like to customize them and make them different to the network. With optimizing going off LP CTR, sometimes my CTR is 5% but conversion rate is really high, so if I cut too early - ie no click throughs after 20 or 30 clicks, then I could potentially cut a winning placement. But I do cut 1x offer payout.
Anyone else got any insight?
You should take as much info as you can in native ads, LP CTR, CR, CPA for each widgets and ads.
About your situation it's seems like you lost auction and you should increase your bid on your best ads and widgets, that you have.
If you will track your traffic with tracker you can see bad widgets from the start and it will help you to scale up your campaigns.
My campaigns last at least for 6 month on MGID, just find the best time when your ads show best results in conversions and make higher bid in this time to get all traffic that they have.
That's the bad thing about using network hosted lp's is that I can't see ctr. I'm definitely going to have to change that.
Wow 6 months is awesome, is that with same ads or you need to keep adding fresh ones? Do you do any changes to your lp? Another thing with hosting lp myself is I can split test different things here and there.
With my campaigns I still do all the optimisations like raising / pausing widgets and ads, cutting os versions etc but even after that the spend is almost the same but epc drops over a week or 2.
I always try to keep very high on my good widgets but sometimes they just loose their oomph.
Thanks for your help!
