Help With Taboola campaign

Hey guys,

I started a campaign on Taboola last week for a lead gen offer. I have a few issues that I could use your help with:

  1. Voluum shows the conversions, the sites, etc. The postback is setup like Voluum showed me, but no matter what I do, I don't see the conversions on Taboola. Is there anything that I can do on my side here?
  2. The offer is in the insurance niche with a payout of $15. I set the campaign with $50 a day Desktop only, $0.88 smart bid with a goal of "Online Purchases". After a week of running, the campaign spent $500 (I played with the budget a bit on some days), and brought $350 in revenue. I see that the majority of the leads are from msn. What do you recommend me to do in terms of optimization for this campaign to become profitable? Also how can I scale it once it's in the green?

Thanks,
Jack

As far as the taboola conversions go, did you place the taboola pixel on the thank you page of the offer? You have to do this in order for conversions to show in Taboola it has zero to do with Voluum.

Isn't it the goal of the s2s postback?

There's a few ways to do this. In my experience the easiest way is to go into Taboola, get your tracking pixel, then paste it in the header of your thank you page. That is the stupid easiest way to get conversions reported back to your traffic source.

You shouldn't even run the campaign without this. Without knowing what widgets are converting you are running blind.

I see the sites that bring the conversion on Voluum, but not on Taboola. Also, I don't have access to the thank you page of the offer, as it is an affiliate offer.

Hey @jackvidal -

Voluum should be sending a postback to Taboola.

The offer name at the end of the postback you have on your Voluum campaign should be identical to the 'conversion' you created in Taboola.

If you have the conversion set up in Taboola and the matching postback in Voluum and the conversions still aren't posting, then just email the Voluum support staff.

Indeed I almost always email support (Thrive in my case) anytime I start with a new network, just to make sure everything is set up as per the best specifications.

If you are using SmartBid on Taboola and the conversions haven't been posting, you *may* want to restart the campaign once the issue is fixed, as otherwise it could confuse the smartbid/create disjointed data.

Although honestly I doubt it matters that much so I wouldn't stress over it either way.

Thanks a lot Jack!

I think that was the issue. I didn't even create a conversion on Taboola for the campaign. Now I created the conversion, and added the same name to the postback on Voluum. Hopefully it will start firing.

Is that 3 Jacks now doing native on the forum?

1. Need to create the conversion pixel on Taboola with same event name.
2. Up your budget and drop bids slightly, by a few cents at a time after it caps out. Native can literally be that simple once you have a winning campaign, and it sounds like yours has potential especially at those higher bids already.

Also now would be a good time to create a separate MSN only whitelist. Just add - MSN to your new campaign and they should whitelist for only MSN properties. Otherwise ask your rep if you have one.

Thanks a lot! I will do that and report here. Maybe it will turn into a follow-up thread.
