Honestly either are fine starting out as they're both best in class for hosted and self-hosted respectively. They're also pretty similar UI and feature-wise, which makes it easy to switch between them.

Self hosted CAN equal to additional problems since you need to handle the hosting yourself. I'm not saying it will cause problems but the possibility is there. Especially when running large volumes of traffic.
But then again, large volumes of traffic will translate into a hefty bill with a cloud hosted tracker that bills per event, such as
If I was starting now, I would base my decision on the type of traffic I'd run. With POPs or any other high volume format, I'd go with a self hosted tracker. For the other types, I'd go with cloud hosted.

I second Matuloo's comment as I think cloud is better if cost isn't a concern and if you aren't tech savvy. Also keep in mind whether the tracker you use can easily export into others, for example most trackers have a solution to easily port your camps over from

Because we've had redirect troubles with FB and some server issues etc along the way its been nice to get replies way faster then other trackers and that in turn keeps the $ coming in
