Alright, so bit of a re-intro. I’m Craig, mid 40’s, a member since 2014 and it’s been well over 3 years since my last post. Figured it was about time to start networking a bit. I haven’t been active on the forum but still gain a lot of valuable info from it. I’ve been doing this thing as a lone wolf…
So over $6m in revenue the last few years…I know it doesn’t compare to a lot of guys here and yea I’ve done a ton of things wrong, have spent a large amount of hours chasing campaigns and haven’t built an asset, but on the other hand am thankful that I put in the work and managed to get to this point and change my life. Probably should have been smarter and built a team but I always just enjoyed being based in Asia, traveling around and not having the responsibility of employees.
Was mostly focussed on Nutra on Native…back when Rev Content was good/better. Also Content.ad and Taboola. That was the bulk of my efforts the last few years. But all good things come to an end, and Rev Content changed their ways in early 2018 and the quality also dived (for me and Nutra anyway) and things got more difficult.
2019 has been a real change, a very tough year, my dad passed away…that’s when everything gets put in perspective. The highs aren’t as high, but the lows are much lower. No coincidence everything else tanked…That aside, I was into Crypto offers,… and also PUSH traffic which is bit of a headache. Some success here and there but not like before. I’ve now experienced bigger loss days/weeks this year than I have before…but it is what it is, you just keep moving on.
So perspective, things have come full circle.. a downer but hopefully will make me better at this, hopefully new opportunities will open
For those struggling with getting started or experiencing the downs …you can do it. I’m mid 40’s and really not all that talented at this stuff. I just worked really hard and I had a hell of a lot of fun while doing it. Life events happen & the negative days aren’t easy...but things eventually turn around.
Where to from here though I’m not sure, it feels like bit of a start over point… maybe try something new, a business partner perhaps…but definitely want to surpass my previous levels!
In any case, hope to meet some new people and hope everyone is doing great!
My dad passed away last year so I hear ya... it definitely puts life in perspective.
But yeah, I like what Malan Daras says about internet marketing being a "choose your own adventure" type of thing, which allows for endless metamorphosis/evolution/rebirth.
Whichever vertical you choose next I hope you crush it man!
If you continue with native hit me up anytime to talk shop
Hey tawhay!
$6m revenue is quite a feat!
I'm still running Nutra heavily on Revcontent and Content.ad, so I can confirm it still works very well at this moment.
I'm also hitting on Push + Crypto too! So we kinda doing similar things here
Since both are still working well, so you might want to test your campaigns again. Hit me up if you wanna network with me!
Condolences on your loss. No amount of revenue matters when life hits you in the face with an event like that. Puts a weird spin on everything else going on in your life, so even neutral and good events shitty, and bad events even worse. It sounds like you're working your way through it, so it will pass eventually, just don't force it.
You already have a ton of experience, so getting back on the horse and trying verticals and angles and such won't be hard for you. That's already a massive advantage over most affiliates.
I'm up for networking, but I'd probably just drag your down with my inexperience
Hey Craig welcome again and sorry to hear about your loss.
I'm kind of at the same point, did a few million revenue without building an asset except my skillset, and am looking where to go next.
I used to run a lot of Revcontent also, being solely focused there for a few years mostly on nutra and VSLs before finally stopping it sometime last year as US was getting harder to make work. Haven't tried out their new platform yet but have heard good things,
However nowaday's it's all Taboola and I really wish I'd started with them a lot sooner. The scale and quality is so much greater; they're just much more restrictive in what you can run - but I actually think that lends to more opportunity if you can get creative and have a good rep to navigate compliance of course. Have you tested many whitehat campaigns there?
And are you planning to attend Affiliate World in Bangkok this December?
Cheers,
Kelly
Condolences on your loss
Puts things in perspective doesn't it?
Very new here but reading as much as I can can to start my first campaign very soon
Especially fascinated by push traffic, and second native.
Condolences on your loss! My mother passed away 2 years ago and it totally shook my life. Eventually life goes on, but it will never be the same. I'm also in my mid-late 40's (47 on Friday).
As for traffic sources, I decided to focus on Native and Push. I started lately with Taboola which I'm still trying to learn the ropes on. I'm also trying MGID, and I want to start with Revcontent.
btw, I'm going to AWE Bangkok if anyone wants to meet there.
