I'm looking to subscribe to Hotjar but was wondering if anyone can share their experience using it?
Does it slow down the response time of the page?
Did it in fact add value?

I use SmartLook (similar to HJ, I would say even better) and it does help of course.
It can help to uncover some crucial breaking points on pages.
For example you can setup a funnel and see exactly where most of your users are dropping, what they are searching, heatmaps etc.
Once it helped me to raise my CTR radically when I find out people are clicking on certain images or places that I didn't make clickable before.
So yeah, there are many cases where these kind of tools can help, depends what are you after.
