Thousands of long-tail keywords - Optimization Strategy?

I've spent $10,000 on a fairly wide-open keyword strategy for our product.

I'm in a place where there's just so many keywords I only have like 10% of them I'm even ready to make a decision on --> ditch or bid up. It's all still just noise.

"Hmmmm....4 clicks on this keyword.".....times 5,000

The only strategy I have is trying to theme out keywords & make them into "families" where the intent seems to be related. Then keeping a "broad beta" campaign that continues to mine.

I know this is a common scenario for many of you in Adwords.

What do you do when there's just not enough data yet?

Ditto for Google Shopping (where I have MUCH less levers to pull).

Are your keywords on broad, exact or phrase match?

As with most things in nature, 80/20 rule will apply. So 20% of the keywords will drive 80% or more clicks. Find those ones early, and just pay attention to them.

You may be better off consolidating keywords into their root words on BMM, ie. +affiliate +marketing instead of affiliate marketing forum, affiliate marketing offers, affiliate marketing reviews. Hope that makes sense.
