Hi, I'm starting out running some ads this week and I understand everyone says direct linking just doesn't work anymore. But when I look at MaxBounty offers, I'm confused because they all seem to be quiz landers or have some info input, for which a prelander just doesn't make sense.
The campaigns I'm thinking to run are:

So as you can see they all are interactive landers. Why and how would I need to add prelanders? Would I try to pregauge them?
Hey Phemistery-
Hopefully Amy can throw in her two cents, but I would think it would depend on a) the offer, and b) the traffic source.
I'd do whatever you see people doing on spytools to start, mixed with what your Max Bounty rep says is routine for the offer.
I like Max Bounty a lot they usually have pretty on the ball reps in my experience, but I've only run them for native not any kind of mobile/push/pop stuff so can't speak to that aspect of the question.
thanks, my MaxBounty rep is not really very responsive. We talk sometimes but her answers are one line and vague. With Adplexity Mobile, it's so hard to find the actual offers. The whole first page just runs on with the same offer repeating, and searching for sweepstakes or whatever shows poor results. I'm pretty much on my own looking at MaxBounty offers.
With very targeted traffic, such offers "could" work directlinked, but that's not the case with POPs.
POPs as such are very intrusive, and it's not the only format like this, push is similar for example.
To grab the attention of these users, you need to throw something really strong into their faces, some argument they cannot resist and will start to read on. They must believe that the deal they are getting is one of a kind, not available to others, time constrained etc ... and that's what you do with the LP. The more aggressive the LP, the better, so to speak. Once they are sold, you can send them to the offer that lists the details about the offer in a more "boring/conservative" way.
So yes, these offers do need a prelander with POP traffic or at least some kind of an attention grabbing warning or a win notification.
Just my 2cents.
I use landers, just so I can track the engagement, or else you just get clicks.
CTR for POP traffic.
Interest and CTR for PUSH traffic, so I use landers that are similar to the offer, only the wording is more descriptive but brief.
Depends what data you are looking for to be more effective in your campaigns.
Thanks for your time.
Best regards.
Andy
Offers that are already equipped with their won prelanders, we can test direct-linked.
That's a pro and a con.
Pro: No need to add a landing page.
Con: Every other affiliate is running the exact same thing. (That's kind of a commonality with pop, but at least with other offers, affiliates that bother to test landers gain a slight edge.)
You can also try to add a pre-pre-lander to the offer.
Just make sure that:
-The lander is NOT the same style as the one the offer already comes with. For example if the offer comes with a quiz already, adding more quiz questions would piss the visitor off.
-The lander isn't too long with too many steps, especially if the one the offer comes with is a multi-step lander (like a quiz).
-It would help if the lander has a similar look-and-feel as the one the offer comes with. That way the transition isn't as jarring. The visitor needs to feel that continuity in order to not be jolted with a "WTF?" The whole thing should flow. Conversion rates are typically better when the visitor isn't even aware they've clicked onto another site. Warning: Make sure the affiliate network and advertiser (offer owner) are OK with you doing this.
Examples of a simple lander you can add:
-Spinning wheel or picking-out-a-giftbox - that says "you've won a ticket to our contest" or similar (or "you won!" to the more aggressive of you).
-A lander showing the game prize in different colors and asking the visitor to select their favorite color.
Hope that helps!
Amy
