My first Follow Along: Clickbank + Bing (STM I´m in your hands)

Hello friends of STM Forum. I'm Facundo from Argentina, and I'm very happy to start my first follow along with you. I joined STM a few days ago, and after reading countless pages of valuable information I decided to share my project with you. I think it's the best way to build knowledge.

First of all, I tell you that although I am practically new to AM, I have had some positive previous experience with different verticals. In this case I have decided to start a project with an offer from Clickbank and using Bing Ads as my traffic network.

Why did I decide this? Because Clickbank's info products are very long term promotions, which for a Newbie like me is something very interesting because it allows you to configure scaling strategies gradually and thus point to a successful campaign without a short term expiration date. At the same time, they are proven and reliable products in my experience. (I have already had conversions with Clickbank and the payments of this network work very well).

Many people think that CB products may be old or outdated, but doing some research I found that they continue to be advertised very intensively and with benefits by their affiliates.

So let's get to work, I'll tell you a little bit about my strategy.

Af Network: Clickbank
Traffic Source: Bing
Geo: Us
Budget: $25/Day
Tracker: Voluum (Thanks Karolina from Voluum for all your help!)
Spy Tool: Ispionage
Lander: Product Review (recommended by the owner of the product)
Server: Ionos (If you know of a better one with a better price, don't hesitate to suggest it)
Lander Builder: Mobirise

Day 1: Spy on the competition and choose offer.

To spy on Bing's competition, I decided to use Ispionage. With this tool I realized that the offer idea I had was correct, as I have seen that there are many successful affiliates promoting it.
Also with Ispionage I can know the Keywords that the affiliates are using as well as the bids for each of them and their ads.

I decided to start with the following strategy:

3 Ads (The most successful of my competitors but with a modification made by me)

15 Keywords taken from Ispionage + Keywords suggested by the product owner

CPC Model

Bid: $1.25

I do not perform any type of specific Targeting such as Age, Sex, Device Etc. Although the product suggests it, I prefer to find out that data through Split Testing. (I'd like to hear your suggestions).

Day 2: Configuring the Campaign in Bing and Voluum

I start loading the Bing campaign configuration for my Clickbank product, with the 3 Chosen Ads and the bids and keywords mentioned above.
In order to be able to trace the information of the campaign, I refer to the information that Volumm offers to perform the integration of Bing and CLickbank respectively. In all this Karolina from Voluum was of great help. Don't be afraid to consult her if you have any doubts about the tracker. She is a very kind and knowledgeable person about the tracker and its possibilities. Thank you Karolina!

When you set the Tracking URL from Voluum on Bing, you will find that Bing tells you that the Tracking URL and the Destination Page do not match. There's a very simple way to fix it. I won't explain it now but if someone has doubts about how to do it don't hesitate to ask me.

As I said before I have not made any specific targeting of the campaign.

Now to test!!.

In the following days I will upload some Bing and Voluum campaign captures to show you how my campaign evolves day by day.

I hope you join me on this path with your suggestions and criticisms (well-intentioned of course ).

Very cool!

I have had a lot of success with Clickbank products on Native and I think it's a fantastic network!

I couldn't tell from your post if you said you are a beginner at internet marketing or if you are experienced... I was going to say, I'm not sure if we have many Bing experts here (if anyone reading this is good with Bing or search-based affiliate marketing please chime in!) so if you are an expert yourself (or if you become one!) I'm sure that will be valuable

Keep up the interesting follow-along!

Very interesting!

I still do Bing and CB passively with a super low spend (like $3 a day) just to keep in practice and collect email subscribers / funnel to a 'blog'/lander. It's still a nice surprise when a conversion pops up on a campaign I haven't touched in months

Best Bing info I ever found or AM was on warrior forum by solar warrior: here

I know it's not STM, but it's still solid, actionable info.

Day 3: First Campaign Test and Screenshots.

Ok, after a few days of testing and from what you can see in these screenshots it is clear that something is not working well. Let's see a little more in detail.

Bing Campaign Info Screenshot:

Here we can clearly see a basic problem. After 7 days, the campaign has only received 181 Impressions and my ads only 5 clicks.

Clearly the main drawback is the lack of impressions. Although I have only received 5 clicks on my ads, when I analyze their CTR, I see that it is not so bad. Obviously they must be optimized and improved, but I think that with so few data that is still not possible. In addition the ads have an Av Position below 3 which, according to what I have read in the forum, is correct.

So let's focus on the impressions.

I configured the campaign with the Enhanced CPC model which I think is the right one to start with. As I said before the keywords are taken from Ispionage and the suggestions of the owner of the product.

Should I include the keywords suggested by bing to increase impressions? It's something I've been thinking about and I'm going to try it.

With so few clicks is very difficult to make a diagnosis in Voluum regarding the performance of my campaign. But maybe we can get something. Let's see it.

It continues in the following message

Let's start by analyzing the traffic IP in Voluum. I have read a lot about the quality of Bing's traffic, so I decided to include in my Lander the AFK (Anti Fraud Kit) that Voluum offers and what I can see is something alarming.

Bing has a lot of bot traffic, which makes me watchful and I think it's the first point to start optimizing my campaign. So I proceed to block the IPs that Voluum identifies as bot traffic in Bing and I assume that this is something that I will have to do very often.

I tried to upload a screenshot from Voluum to show you the Bot Detection, but STM won't let me. (Exceed your Quote....... ) As I said I'm new in all this so it will be another thing to learn hahaha....)

For now I don't have much more to tell you. The only thing I'm sure of is that I'm not going to stop until I make this campaign profitable.

For now I'm going to read the information that the good friends of this forum have shared with me in this post, and I hope soon to have new suggestions and comments from you Affiliate friends.

Have a great weekend!

I’ll check on my campaigns later today, but I would advise not adding Bings suggested keywords. That is a never ending Blackhole. But! Do spend some time with their keyword tool researching what is getting clicks, it’s actually pretty good. I would advise using broad and phrase match. Don’t bother with exact yet, it’s usually too expensive.

Also, Bing’s algorithm will start sending you more in a few days after the campaign has started. So I would wait a bit before tweaking too much.
