How to tackle Sudden drop in CR
Hey guys,
So I had a campaign for push + pop for a dating offer on propeller ads. It was doing pretty good, at like $70-90/day it was at 60-70% ROI and I was happy with the results. But my happiness was short lived because yesterday all of a sudden I spent all my budget and only made back like $2-3, which is weird because I think there shouldn't be a creative fatigue this early.
The campaign was started like 4 days ago approx. And it was performing well from day 1
Bid was +3% of the suggested
Also was using optimiser to setup rules like:
Spend > 2*payout - Kill zone id
Spend > 5*payout & ROI < 50% - Kill zone id
and so on..
What can be some of the reasons for this sudden drop? Also can anyone please recommend what should be my next steps here?
Thanks

Check for similar traffic sources and test the campaigns there? Perhaps Propellerads + that geo = fed up with your campaign? Are you sure everything works correctly as it should by the way?
Otherwise try new angles and new creatives more often.
Push is very violatile by the way, pops less. So that could also be the reason for irregular CR's.

Yeah what was more frustrating was that the pop campaign literally died overall. Like no conversions at all. Yeah I am trying it on ZP pop as well, where I am being breakeven, but I am still at the learning phase of the smartecpa algo so hopefully it improves.
Yeah everything is working correctly, the lander, the tracking etc. I am gonna try new creatives maybe and see what works.
Thanks for the tip

When this happens to me, I always try to restart with a "clone", so the same campaign and targeting, just started again fresh... try it, it helps quite often.

Yes it did

It worked perfectly. Back to spending good numbers with good conversions. Many a times the fix is very simple haha. Thanks again for that

Yes it worked perfectly. Definitely do a campaign refresh - relaunching it with the exact same settings.

Super happy to hear that! Very often it's all about these simple tricks that you learn with experience, and places like STM are about sharing this info

Glad I could help.

Here is my data on smartlink Mobipium offer. See how the campaign died after 4 days. Could it be also the same issue? Should I just copy and start a fresh one on Pop Ads?

If geo is big enough u can run 2-3 camp with the same setting - change the ads a bit.
For me it works.
I brought more conversion (almost with no duplicate)
I think that for big geo, 1 camp can’t cover all the users.

You can always try that, why not? It only takes a couple minutes to clone a campaign
it's not a "cure all" solution, but in many cases it really helps to start fresh.

Yup, whatever we do, we are still competing against the others, so it's not like we're the only ones who buy the traffic. So if it can work for 20 affiliates at the same time, it can also work with multiple campaign from the same affiliate. Of course it's always a good idea to go for at least some level of variety, so the surfers don't see the same ads over and over.

The tips in this post were written for pop, but may work for push as well:

Things to consider when drop happens:
- check offers -> many times there is issue with the offer itself (tracking domain changes, postback not fires from advertisers, domain flags etc.)
- talk to your AM's, what's going on, if the drop is there for others too
- check your bids, maybe someone has overbid you and you are too down in the "delivery queue"
- check CTR drops on creatives (may need new ones)
- check CTR drops on landers (might signalize lander domain flag)
- check landers itself (last time one of my servers expired, didn't notice for 2 days
)
Hope that helps.
Push can be pretty unstable at some times, we just have to deal with it.
