Facebook Authorization Charge

anyone know what triggers Facebook to confirm your credit card? They do the $1.00 authorization charge and asking for the 4-digit code.

The reason I ask is because I can't see it on my Mastercard statement when they do that.

Hi cloudterrace,

They always check the card when you add it (at least here in Europe). The $1.00 authorization will not appear on your statement as it will stay in pending status and FB won’t proceed the charge. My experience is that it will lapse after 5-7 working days. The whole purpose of FB doing this is to make sure your card info is valid and not reported as lost or stolen.

I would wait a few days for it to show on your statement, I don't know of a way around it, and it seems pretty standard nowadays.

On second thought, try adding the card to pay for some gems in a game or something, and then using it to pay for ads, maybe it won't trigger the verification?

We get it a lot now, when you accept the charge it should show instantly on your statement. If it doesn't there is an option if you go to the unusual activity flag and click the option "I can't find the code on my statement" - Haven't had to do this myself yet so not sure the process but I know its an option there.

Its probably BIN/account geo risk score triggers, it happens a lot more now since apparently those Chinese carding scams

We get it a lot as well lately. It's annoying but usually it shows up in the statement right away once your request the authorisation. Sometimes it doesn't show tho, so we re-try it a few days later.

As maynzie said, you can appeal that you cant see the code and probably re-solve It via support.
