What is the fastest/best way to make user opt in to a mailing list?
Hi affiliates,
When promoting an information product with an auto responder funnel, What's the fastest way to make a user to opt in into my mailing list?
(without false promises or the devil's know what)
As I understood the most common strategy is to create some free information pdf and give it away as a "bribe" in return for the user's email address.
Can you suggest any other strategy that will be faster/better to implement?
Thanks in advanced!

Instead of creating a free info product, just google PLR (Private Label Rights) for the niche - PLR reports or articles. If you can only find articles, bundle them together in a PDF and make an ebook. Make sure to have a nice cover.
Bigger niches have more PLR material, so buy a finished book if you can. They usually cost under $50. Sometimes you can also find autoresponders, or simply use some info articles in the autoresponder sequence.
It's not a different strategy than what you asked, but it's faster

PDF giveaway is one way.
A discount code is another.
"Access" to a video/website would be another.
But you don't have to go and create a super polished PDF with killer content if you're just wanting to test something quick; just use google docs or slides > save as PDF to get something made fast.

5-day-mini-course works pretty well on my personal blog.
Each email is marked with it's number (#1 of #5 ), so they exactly know how many emails there will be and with good cliff hangers I'm getting amazing open rates.
The next email will uncover another important part..
I think it also helps to "warm up" these peoples email accounts, so if I send them stuff in the future, they will get it in their inboxes.
I'm not an email expert though, just my small experiences

How did they get to the auto-responder in the first place?
My experience was using targeted traffic to begin with (PPC from Bing/Google) and always have the email sign up on the lander, which would allow customer to enter to the offer with a discount. By adding their email ('to make sure you're human'), they get added to the list. Just make that clear in the box or in the footer.
Really depends on where your customer is coming from though.

Thank you all, loved your ideas.
But how can I apply the discount strategy? I'm just the affiliate, not the product owner.

Lots of affiliate offers namely ecom & nutra will have discounts for ordering multiple items, or just price reductions in general on the checkout page. So if that's the case, you just ask them to provide their email in exchange for the discount, which is just a link/re-direct to that page.

Another great working approach of collecting subscribers for info products is to offer the first lesson (or some part) of the actual product for free to those who subscribe. Not sure if you could do this with the product you are promoting, but this approach does work.
As for the discounts, many offers can provide discount codes, so maybe just ask the offer owner if they offer something like that.
You can also just "pretend" there is a discount and email the leads a standard link
Or try to sell this as a special/limited sale that is only available to those who subscribe ...
There are a ton of ways to go at this

A large part of opt in rate has to do with understanding your market, and keeping the message consistent between initial banner or ad and opt in page. This is VERY important to opt in rate, the message on your opt in page must match the one on your initial ad.
It’s called “message to market match” and the best way to get them to opt in is to find out what it is they secretly really want (their “secret desire”), then offer it to them on the other side of the opt in page—report, video, audio, whatever the “bribe” is. Remember, they never actually receive the bribe until they get to the other side, although it should certainly match up with the promise on the opt in page.
The way you find the “secret desire” is through good old fashioned market research, made easier now by Facebook groups, websites your market already visits, magazines they may read, etc. The more “irrationally passionate” the market, they more likely they are to opt in and eventually buy—golfers, for instance, are much more irrationally passionate than, say bowlers. You have to get inside their head, understand what it is they really want, then craft the message to address that, both on initial ad, and opt in page.
The more you can segment your traffic, the better you can match your message to them, and the more responsive they will be. For example, in dating, the message for 35 year old guys in New York will be a heck of a lot different than 55 year old farmers in Nebraska, even though it’s for the same end product. Segmentation of traffic, personalization if possible (carrying over location, first name, last name, etc. to the opt in page), can have a big effect on opt in rate.
After you have a winning headline, it’s a good idea to get a really good landing page guy to come up with variations to test, and there are plenty of them on STM.
