Scaling a mysterious campaign on Voluum DSP
Hey guys,
I ran this campaign on Revcontent a few months ago. I don't want to reveal the vertical...sorry.
lol
I'll just say that we ran it in the US and the offers pay about $30-$40 cps
Anyways, the first run was ok. Here are the results that we got on a whitelist campaign.
The campaign is actually a bit better than it looks.
Probably around $500 - $1000 was traffic that ran to broken links [two of the offers paused and didn't notify us]. I was too busy with multiple projects to notice that the offers were cut off. I also barely had any time to optimize the funnel. Juggling too many projects at the same time back then...
Anyways, last month I dug through the stats, optimized the sources a bit, and got some new offers. Here are the stats from this latest run:
What I started doing recently is paying attention to the # of LP-click I'm getting, and what is the lp-click cost and lp-click revenue.
During the first run our revenue per lp-click is about $0.50. During the recent run, we are at about $1. Not bad at all
So, the way that I want to set up these campaigns is that our lp-click-cost is half of the lp-click-revenue. So I'm aiming for $.50 lp-clicks.
On this revcontent campaign we got lp clicks for a cost of $.84. I am trying to lower this further... We put together a reworked lp, I just plugged it into this campaign today. I also added a few more ads.
The problem with this campaign is that volume is a bit low, usually its about $5 /day spend, but sometimes it jumps to $20-$50/day.
Here comes Voluum........
I made a whitelist of all of the Revcontent placements that produced any sales (25 widgets). I wasnt too picky looking for high EPC's.
I plugged it into
Voluum dsp, put together a campaign, and added some of our top ads. I decided to bid high (about 2x the average win cpm)
Some major differences between Voluum and Revcontent
- Voluum traffic starts when you press play and pauses when you pause. This is truly awesome compared to how Revcontent traffic runs
- Voluum is on a cpm basis rather than cpc. I'm happy with this because it means that the ads get about equal amounts of impressions and its easier to pick winners.
So, back to results...
I turned on the Voluum campaign and was surprised at the volume level. The minimum $50/day was spent in an hour or so. So that implies that the daily volume would be around $1k if I opened it up. So far, so good.
Here are the results after the first 2 days on Voluum:
Not too bad... $66 was 2 sales. Our cost per lp click is $1.40.
Goal: Lower cost per lp-click to around $0.50
I added the new lp today. I also paused some placements that were costing ~ $5 /lp-click. I paused 3 out of 5 ads, and added 3 new ads to run.
I'll update this follow along, hopefully we can take it far

Best of luck! Be curious to see how the volume is running direct vs DSP these days.
What tracker is that btw?
