To Lander or not to lander? (7)

To Lander or not to lander?

I have been looking at many different offers in the sweepstake vertical and especially at smartphone sweeps. When I look at the offer pages for nearly all these offers they generally have some sort of quiz type offer page.

When I look on Adplexity for landers in this vertical, I basically see the same sort of quiz type landers being used. My question is, are these quiz type landers being funneled to the offer page which also have a similar quiz type offer page?

I know this sounds like a newbie question but I just can't see what advantage there is to using a lander in these type of offers. Is direct linking better in this situation?

hi! maybe i understood you in the wrong way but this kind on offers usually has the following funnel:

1. SOI sweeps: landing with quiz ---> offer page with a registration form
2. DOI sweeps (or CC Submits or smth else): landing with quiz + registration form ---> offer page = payment page

so on the offer page there is a registration form or payment form. it depends on the kind of offer. as for LPs it is better to use some sort of quiz on them as it encourages user to make the next step (registration or payment) and then you get your convertion.

hope it was useful

I've been trying to wrap my brain around this for quite some time too, when I was starting out.

Sending people through a questionnaire on the LP, just to send them to another similar sequence at the offer url again, didn't really make a lot of sense to me at all

I've tested all the possible combinations... direct link to a plain offer signup form, using a LP with some quiz and then sending them to a plain signup offer form, using a long LP then sending to a similar offer with pretty much the same flow...

The results were not always the same, but in the MAJORITY of my tests, a funnel with a quiz/questionnaire LP and a similar offer url (with quiz again) performed the best. My theory is, that those users who are willing to answer so many questions and follow the whole funnel are heated up the best and their interest kinda grows with every step, hence are easier to convert.

Thanks a lot for your helpful insights.. Thats quite interesting about multiple quiz's performing better. Obviously I will be doing my own testing but appreciate the help.

You say that the majority of your tests showed those results, is that typical for all forms of traffic as well? I have been mainly using Pop in my tests so far..

Yup, I've seen this results pretty much across all traffic types I've run. It's more about the psychology than traffic type in this case.

Same thing with dating offers and landers, many dating offers eventually just ripped the affiliate question style lander so it makes no sense to run a pre-lander, we actually got better results when DL'ing the offer after realising this was the case lol. Still the age old saying, test test test its the only way to know for certain
