After spending $400 on my Justin Bieber campaign and failing, I've decided to give it another go.
The first offer I will try is a download offer for watching football online.
Direct linking first, daily spend set at $5.
Let's make this work!
What up hmate.
if you don't mind me asking... what's your testing budget for the campaign... or better worded... what amount of money are you willing to part with before you consider this a failure? And what is your definition of failure? Is it, I'm willing to spend $400 and if I don't make back at least $200 then this campaign is done-zo, or is it I can actually net -$400 before packing up my keyboard and calling it a quits?
Reason I ask is that you spent $400 on that campaign before calling it a quits... but you're starting a new campaign with a $5 spend daily limit. This is throwing me off. If you can risk $400, then I'd up your spend because $5 isn't going to get you that much data, unless you are going to "hour" part each day ($5 for the hour of 12pm - 1pm, then tomorrow $5 for 1pm - 2pm, etc...) cause who knows when your offer/campaign will have the best converting time/most traffic/etc..?? And even at $5 daily... assuming you're paying minimum at TV which is .011 a view... that's 454 views a day, and a 2-5% ctr (on a good start to a lander) yields you 9-23 clicks... then assuming you're aiming for like a 10% CR, that's 1-3 conversions... and if it's a submit offer is what, $4-5.4 tops? This isn't sufficient data to really base anything off of...
My advice is this... if you can drop $400 on a campaign before sayin it's done and you're moving on... do something with a $2.50 + pay out and spend like $20 a day on some low-medium volume targets... this way you can at least let it run all day, get actual data that's not bound by like 1 - 5 hour time frames, and can make a more solid assumption on what to optimize.
I would also suggest doing something that wasn't seasonal. I made the mistake of making my first 2 campaigns based off of a "hot trend" or a "current occurrence" and now that they're done, I'm starting from scratch with a new unknown unresearched niche.
I mean do what you'd like but I'm just speaking from my recent experience. First campaign I did was a twilight ticket submit offer that ended in late November, and I've had to start from scratch cause it was a short term/short-lived campaign, rather than building out experience that carries weight in a niche I could replicate over and over.
One other thing... and maybe it's just me and I'm a little buzzed on this fine Friday evening in NYC...but stop using the term "Fail/Failed/Failure/Failing"... shit is a made up term based on a perception of a losing mindset. What is "failure" anyway? What it is, is just a lesson learned... which makes you come out smarter and further than where you started... which if you looked up the definition of failure... doesn't match up.
So stop saying that, fucks with your mind ;-)... instead say "After spending $400 on my teenage he/she campaign... I've learned that next time I have to...", which will only help you move forward.
If you want to stick with NFL games, or "soccer" cause I see you're from England, by all means do it... worst thing you can do in this as I keep getting reminded haha, is to bounce around. But just make sure you don't start off the wrong way and set yourself up for "failure" and discouragement.
That's just my 2 pennies bro, you really seem to have drive and determination, so I hope everything works out for you... just don't get in your own way by constantly switching shit up or setting yourself up for "failure"

nice one dubbsy - critical questions for anyone starting a new ppv campaign
Hey dubbsy
When I spent $400 I made back $200 so ended up losing $200. I am willing to spend another $400 on PPV. I really should find a profitable campaign from $800.
The reason why I am spending $5 initially is because the football (not soccer) offer I am promoting has a $1.60 payout. If from $5 I get 1 lead I will continue to concentrate on that campaign and build a landing page, add sound etc.
If the payout is $2.50 I will increase my daily budget.
I have also read a good deal of success stories with international traffic and I think I will give that a little go too.
So far, my campaign has not been approved yet so I can't post any stats.
I would also take into consideration that it's xmas eve, a couple of my campaigns conversions have dropped today so maybe best holding off until next week?
Yea, that makes sense. I'll hold it off for a few days and do a bit of SEO until than.
